Imagine yourself expected to be the leader of the human space fleet with the fate of humanity on your shoulders, along with a psychotic brother threatening murder. In the book, Ender’s Game, written by Orson Scott Card, Ender is expected to be the commander of the human space fleet with the goal to defeat an alien species named the buggers. On his journey to command stardom, Ender faces many problems in battle school and back home on Earth. Choosing between the book and movie, the book illustrated a better and more exciting reading experience than the movie. There are many major themes in the Enders Game. One of these major themes is Ender’s siblings. Peter, his brother, has a violent and reckless personality who aspires to take over the world, while trying to kill Ender on his way. His sister, Valentine, however, loves Ender and encourages Ender when he feels lonely. Another necessary part that has to be included in Ender’s Game is the part when Ender discovers that the simulator is the actual commander podium. This part is an important part of the story because this is when the bugger specie and home world is destroyed. This is also when Ender realizes that the buggers could have been friendly and peaceful. One important theme in this book is the isolation of Ender. Ender must be …show more content…
One example includes the famous, former commander of the space fleet. In both the movie and book, Mazer Rackham guides Ender to defeating the buggers. Mazer Rackham is also the teacher of Ender in Enders Game. Another similarity is Bonzo Madrid, a commander in the Battle School. In both the book and the movie, Bonzo bullies Ender and eventually pays the price as he dies. Bonzo’s personality is similar in the movie and book. Another similarity is the destruction of the bugger home world. The buggers world are destroyed by the same weapon, the “Little Doctor.” These are similarities that appear in both the book and movie of Enders
In Enders Game; there’s many key points in the film that without them, they story would be completely different. Ender gets his call to action when he gets his monitor out and beats up a kid (Bernard). The
The buggers and the humans fought three wars against each other, they both thought originally that one was better than the other. Nearer to the end the book Ender realizes that the buggers at first did not know that people were in fact intelligent and when they learn they stopped trying to invade them. The buggers were looked at as monsters that needed to be killed, and in the book it mentioned that the whole war may be because they simply cannot talk to each other. So I believe that the theme in the book is if someone makes a masking or does something wrong to
Ender’s Games Summary In Ender’s Game, earth had previously been attacked by aliens, called buggers, and were going to attack again in the future. The main character is Ender Wiggin, who has a sister named Valentine, and a brother named Peter. He and his sister have a very close relationship, but his brother is crazy and wants to kill him. In the beginning, Ender beat up a bully, and when asked why he said that it was to prevent future problems, which made the colonel decide that Ender was a good candidate as commander for dealing with the future alien problems.
Let’s start off with similarities. Similarities is something that is almost the same or can be the same. So one similarity I noticed both in the book and the movie is that Graff says that Ender is the only leader at this battle school
(297). This shows Ender has changed from having a killer instinct to having a non-killer instinct, and is one of the only humans able to understand the buggers. At the end of the book, the narrator also says, “The humans did not forgive us, she thought. We will surely die. ‘How can you live again?’
Ender’s Game in my humble opinion, is the epitome of an amazing book. This book has sent me on a whirling rollercoaster of emotion with every flip of a page. If it isn’t Ender in danger, it’s his brother trying to take over the world. If not that, then it is dialogue between military corporals, feeding me nonsense that alter my belief in Ender’s ability to overcome the issue at hand “We want to teach him, not give him a nervous breakdown. ”(Card 210).
"…she squeezed his knee…where he had always been most ticklish. But almost at the same moment, he caught her wrist in his hand. His grip was very strong, even though his hands were smaller than hers and his own arms were slender and tight. For a moment he looked dangerous; then he relaxed." () Unknowingly Ender has surrendered to the virtuous boy he once was in exchange for the arduous adolescent he is now, confirming what the Battle School destined him to become.
My book report is on "Ender 's Game" by Orson Scott Card. Ender 's Game is a military sci-fi book that has received many awards. The author did continue the series on Ender, however the military aspect of it did not continue with the series. Ender Wiggins was only allowed to born so that he can save the human race from exstinction. Since birth he was a outcast, hated by his brother Peter, and constantly being hurt by everyone except his sister Valentine.
To me the best theme in the story is friendship. I believe that every person needs to show friendship to
"Ender's Game," written by Orson Scott Card, is a captivating science fiction novel that explores the intricate nature of morality. Set in a futuristic world, the story follows the journey of a young prodigy named Ender Wiggin as he is trained to become a military genius. Throughout the novel, Card raises thought-provoking questions about the ethical choices individuals face in times of war. The book challenges readers, including tenth graders like myself, to contemplate the multifaceted aspects of morality and the consequences of one's actions. In "Ender's Game," morality is not depicted as a simple black-and-white concept but rather as a complex web of choices and consequences.
This lessens the scope of how much the International Fleet has been lying to Ender, leading to the reveal being less dramatic. The movie also completely erases the Locke and Demosthenes subplot, removes the epilogue of Ender moving to a colony with Valentine, and then replaces it with Ender finding the queen bugger’s egg on the same planet as the Command School and leaving to find a safe home for it. This also gets rid of the parallel between Ender and Peter at the end of the book, where it’s pointed out that in spite of Peter being portrayed as exceedingly cruel, he prevents the war on Earth which saves millions of lives. Ender kills billions of buggers in the Third Invasion, almost wiping out their race completely, despite being described as gentle and not wanting to hurt anyone. The movie’s tendency to cut anything not deemed an important event also makes it seem that Ender is unaffected by most of the events that occur.
Without the bugger war, Ender would not have been born, and he realizes this fact. Interestingly enough, the reader never directly see’s the war against the buggers. The only war ever seen directly is the other war that Ender fights every day – the war against the teachers games, against the other kids, against his fear of becoming his brother, against the instinct that drives Ender to hurt other people. Ender’s entire life is made up of these little battles. Ender finds his identity in the battles that he fights and the challenges that he over comes.
Books are the ideal way to introduce a reader to the many morals of the human society. In the novel Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, Ender, is drafted by the international fleet to lead multiple fleets of ships in combat against an alien species, but he does not realize that he was drafted for that purpose. Ender is sent to Battle School, where he becomes a true archetypal leader, and he gains many valuable friends that help him along the way. At a hidden asteroid, Ender begins what he believes are simulations, but really is the Third Invasion.
This is shown most importantly, once Ender realizes that he has been lied to, and manipulated into killing off an entire alien species, without even knowing what he has done. It is after this very traumatic childhood experience that Card illustrates how Ender decides to be the better person, by deciding that he will tell nothing but the truth, and becoming the Speaker for the Dead. This interpretation is most important because it tells the reader that not all bad, and traumatic things have to end up so horrible as everyone tends to think; oneself would only have to try to make the best of the particular situation to change themselves for the better. Now it will be explained how Ender decides to tell nothing but the truth. First, Card illustrates how traumatic events can affect a person for the better when Ender
This was one of the reasons why he was the perfect choice to be the commander. He also had a tremendous amount of guilt after (unknowingly) killing all the buggers and the pilots he and the squad leaders had controlled. This guilt would only be resolved when Ender finds a purpose as Speaker for the Dead and finding a safe place for the egg to
