The definition of a bystander is a person who is present at an event or incident but does not take part. When a not-so ideal event occurs, most people feel empathy or an obligation to help. Obviously, some people are more empathetic than others, so not everyone will feel the same way. Those who are more so are more likely to step in and intervene than those who are less empathetic. Although you may be more than willing to help anyone in need, it is important to think of your own safety first.
Finally, the last section reads, “Don 't take for granted the love this life gives you, when you get where you 're going don 't forget turn back around and help the next one in line”. This tells us to know that any good we receive in life does not belong totally to us, but we should appreciate what we have and use it to help
A great example of this is in Candide where Pangloss is talking to Candide. Pangloss claims that because they are finally satisfied, they are after all in the best of possible worlds, to which Candide responds “that is very well put… but we must cultivate our garden” (413). This passage represents after years of tutelage and being told what to think by Pangloss, Candide finally distancing himself from him and takes a step towards enlightenment. Candide recognizes that Pangloss may be right, but he stresses the importance of living on one 's own terms, without tutelage, which he achieves by working in the garden. These enlightenment principles are what causes him to finally start seeing consistency and satisfaction in his life.
When we are in need of help, we hope for others to come to our aid, but when we are in a stable place in our lives it is easy to avoid helping others. If more people felt empathetic daily, perhaps the world would not be as cruel of a place. It is easy to believe we make our own fate in this world when you have everything you need to survive. However, some people do not have these luxuries, and it takes a fair amount of empathy to realize
It is expected that medical practitioners should abide by these code of medical ethics, it is an obligation on the part of medical practitioner to fulfill certain rights and expectations of the patients. But there is fast spreading professional misconduct amongst the medical practitioners. The unethical practice has gone to a level where the basic purpose of medial profession i.e. service to humanity fails. Few unethical practices like fee sharing or cut practice, prescribing particular company’s medicine for his personal monitory gains, are openly discussed among medical practitioners but they never come to surface due to lack of concrete proof.
Often times, people of this generation wander around aimlessly, waiting for someone else to tell them what their purpose in life is and what to do to achieve that goal. The journey, however, is finding that purpose for yourself, by yourself, despite yourself. There will be many times when obstacles block the true path that one is meant to be on. However discouraging this may be, when you make your own choices that dictate your path in life you are able to be content with the end result. A true journey is refusing to let another person make decisions that may or may not be vital to determining what path we arrive at in the end.
Some major differences between the actual Garden of Eden and Candid’s garden is that Adam and Eve did not have to do work to get fruits and vegetables. Another ideology that is set is the more care you take of the plants the better the outcome and vice versa. Finally, the garden represents the propagation and cultivation of life which the characters agree about despite their
Identity can reveal itself through life experiences, and certain circumstances. When someone is facing hardships it can reveal a person’s identity. The way someone faces adversity can determine his or her identity. A person can overcome adversity and be known as resilient or they can give up and be known as a quitter. In the same way, triumphs can also reveal someone’s identity.
Regardless of the determination one may have to be kind-hearted or considerate without an ulterior motive, a small hint of guilt will always lurk in the light of goodness. Whether it is helping out the less fortunate because one is ashamed of their privileges or doing a small deed for another to boost one’s own idea of themself, we all have a desire inside of us to better ourselves in any way possible. It is when we take action to better ourselves by helping others and bettering their lives that true goodness blossoms. It is impossible to have goodness out of the purity of one’s heart, but if goodness can come from guilt, is that terrible? The reason Amir returned to Afghanistan was to rid himself of the guilt, but nevertheless, he saved Sohrab.
Being a good listener is even more important than giving advice. It should not be expected to end in a single conversation. Depressed people tend to withdraw from others and isolate themselves, so concern and willingness should be expressed over and over again. Finally, it 's important to know what 's good to say to a depressed person and what isn 't. For instance, it 's very important to try to develop positive thinking in a depressed person saying that it will all change soon instead of reminding that person that other
In fact, it is painless. The doctor told me I was lucky they found it, otherwise, we wouldn 't have even known. But the cause of my stomach pains and heart pains is still unknown. They think it 's from stress though, like the Aneurysm." "So what now?"
But, if a person is assumed to be better than they really are, there might not be such a rush to change their minds. The reaction also depends on the person. While some people are very bothered by what people say and think of them, others couldn’t care less. In addition, while this could increase motivation in one person, it could also decrease motivation in all aspects of life for
This person tends to get very narrow minded and focuses solely on his own ideas. This can be viewed as a form of greed, which, in a way, can be an opposite of restraint. I believe having restraint can make a person more open-minded because they are more willing to listen to the ideas of other people. They are not quick to reject someone else’s thoughts. This attitude could brighten up someone’s day because they might feel like they actually are being heard by someone.
