STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
‘Two is always better than one’ is an old saying and today more than ever before; the relevance of this statement is being tested and is being proven right! How? Well in most disciplines and fields of study, work or leisure a combination of two or more areas is proving to be more fruitful than an individual one. No more is isolation of a field or an area viewed as superlative, for combinations are the need of the hour and are working more effectively than expected. I have always believed that there are three categories of engineers, some are born engineers, some become engineers and some have engineering thrust upon them along with leadership skills! Semester six of my undergraduate afforded me first opportunity to manage a project with distinct modules. I handled tasks like project budget, deadlines, modeling and troubleshooting. Racing against time, and competing with several other teams from college, my team won the first prize in the intra-college competition. A degree in Engineering was definitely a dream fulfilled but what I desired most was to be able to make full use of the skill set acquired during my undergrad and apply it most fruitfully. Armed with an engineering degree, I ventured out of college and headed straight to a young, dynamic firm “Stellar Network Systems”. Here I was a part of a project called ‘WiTriCity’. My engineering background helped me develop a deep understanding of analytical tools (including mathematics) and taught me the value of a conceptual/fundamental approach to subjects. I have learned not to mistake the wood for the trees. My work experience has been invaluable in instructing me about the importance of a pragmatic approach - technical skills and knowledge have to be modified keeping in view the social, business and economic realities on the ground. At this stage therefore, an Masters degree would help me smooth over some of the problem areas, and increase my adaptability in different business environments by instructing me about various perspectives and principles that shape the business world.
