Prior to AP Language I really enjoyed writing, but during that class my love and ease of writing went away and I often found it to be dull and like a chore. However, after being in VU Composition I feel that my ease of writing has returned and I am able to focus more on improving the details and content of my essays. Even though meeting word requirements can often be tedious, be my last essay, I found it to be an easier task to
I appreciate how literature has formed the person I am today, and I poured out these feelings in my essay. Adding a quote to my final essay was recommended to me by my teacher. This helped improve my essay a great deal, and I am glad that I listened to this advice. However, I could have integrated a quote into my essay in a more effective manner. Nevertheless, I am proud of how the paper turned out.
The skills that I have learned has dramatically improved those letters, allowing them to appear more professional. In the past, I would search for ways to write a decent paper; now I have the skills to perform my own paper without having to rely on having assistance from someone else. It takes me a little while to develop a starting point, but once I have the first sentence, my words come to mind much quicker. I have also caught myself listening to the words that people speak instead of listening to what they are speaking of. I have improved on my speaking with the public because of this class.
The Advanced Writing class will help me with anything necessary that I need help with and it’ll keep me on the right track to shoot my best score on the ACTs. Unlike any other classes, this class will benefit any person outside in the real world. Although, I haven’t taken the ACTs to receive the score that would’ve helped me improve in the future, or show where I am at, I don’t have to take it to know my strengths or weaknesses in English and Writing. One of the three strengths I have in Writing is focusing on the topic that I find interesting. I ensure to include what is important in my paper, and other details that are necessary for the readers to easily understand of the point of
As each writing assignments is graded, I realize how much I have improved as a writer by the grade and the fewer mistakes that I have made in them. As each time the grammatical and spelling mistakes are fewer on each paper. I want to share how I have grown as a writer on second semester by being in class and reflecting on my previous assignments. Even though there weren’t many writing assignments this semester. There were some assignments that I have done poorly on.
As a former AP Lang student, I feel that this class has been very beneficial for me in that it has allowed me to apply the techniques and strategies I learned last year toward more relevant subjects. Having the freedom of choosing topics to write about for our various essays made this class more enjoyable than the other English classes that I have taken. AP Lang focused heavily on the techniques of writing solid essays, but instead of writing about useful topics, we analyzed the short stories provided on the exams. Writing a personal narrative essay was very helpful in my college application process and allowed me to employ the same kind of strategies that I learned in class into my college essays. Likewise, creating a cover letter taught me many useful strategies that I will definitely put to use when it comes time for me to submit an official cover letter to a company.
Some of my sentences were fragments with incomplete phrases. English 1010 class helped to improve and change my level of writing. The grade that I think to earn in Eng 1010 is an A. I practiced writing more frequently by keeping a daily journal. The journal helped to make writing a familiar part of my life and served as a continuing source of ideas for papers. I also wrote many helpful and important essays in
With a topic I truly care about I wish I would have done a little more with my paper than I did. Grammatically, I still need a lot of improvement. I write like I would text sometimes, and that is a bad habit that needs to be broken. But just in one semester I can see my improvements though my
In my mind, I see myself as an adequate writer. I've always love the thought of writing anything, because it lets me create an innovative story using my own experience and imagination. I may not be the best writer but I do believe that my writing style doesn't require too much work. Also, there is the fact that I love to write , which makes it easier on me to complete them as assignments and not as a chore. However ;I'm not going to say that all writing is all fun, it has its moments when it can be very unbearable.
I definitely had some preferences on the books that we read this semester. An example of this is Laramie Project, I didn’t like the start of the book at all and then once it got going I ended up enjoying it a little bit more. Usually classes in high school involve skills that wont be used later in life but this class helped develop skills I will use. I saw this as a set up class for real life situations. It prepares you to be informed in a controversy like gay rights or learning about communities you didn’t know about
During my time in high school, I would get Bs and Cs, but now at Brookdale, I am getting grades I could only dream of and also enjoy learning athte same time. For example, the ALP was tough at first but during all the journals, the freewrites, and the essays were really were not so bad and they were easier because I paid attention to my professor on writing better and to make my emotions on paper,. To summarize how Brookdale was a good choice for me was I met good people, the courses, less money to spend, has a great hands on learning experience, and getting good grades. For all the new students in the ALP, learn and enjoy being in that program because that program really helped me learn two English courses in one semester so that
I selected WRTG 101 because it was a required class towards my undergraduate degree. This is a class that I should have taken earlier in my pursuit of my degree; it would have been extremely beneficial to me with my writing assignments for other classes. Being a student of WRTG 101 employs me to use my critical thinking skills in conjunction to my writing skills. Prior to taking this class, I thought that my writing skills were above average; however this class has provided instruction and feedback that I needed improvement in several areas. Each Monday, I would log onto UMUC.com to read the Course Content/Alerts to see what the status of my progress.
This is important because most courses in college have writing in them. As the semester has progressed, I have slowly started to understand where I am with writing and where I need to improve. Revising my essays is a great way to learn from my mistakes. Although my writing is not great yet I am slowly improving
Although this Fall semester was really difficult I am glad that I was able to complete it and manged to pull through it with the help and the support of others. For future learning or situations I will look back on what I learned In English 110 because, it was not just a writing class but a class that has given many students the opportunity to learn themselves and provide for the community. I am also much more confident about the following semester and hope that things will work out well because, I was taught to manage my fall semester the hard way but now I will be better at
