Having a combination of what we learn since day one through all the semester and adding all or some of the topics on future projects was an outstanding way to keep learning not only the previous topics but the new ones we touch during school time. Sharing in class our progression was awesome because it showed us how behind or ahead we were with our work, but the most important the extra help or feedback we got from other students. I personally think it was worth the time we spent in class since I always went home after each day of class knowing that I had learned something knew in my life and that I will be using in my
Hello, I am Connor Love. I am writing this letter as a soon to be former student of Katy Leuschen 's "Waves of Change" writing 111 class. The first semester of my collegiate career has taught me many valuable lessons, from learning how to better succeed academically to how to deal with the flu without my mother. The lessons I have learned in writing class have not only helped my writing abilities grow, but also have helped me improve in other aspects of my life. During "Waves of Change" I learned how to revise my work, more importantly, that uncertainty during the writing process is normal, and revise my thinking.
The freedom that Holden had was great so he could figure out what his goals were, but the lack of structure lead to some mistakes and a lot of wasted time. This also gives them absolute responsibility over their future and education because they gain the experience to know what they want.
The college has helped me in many ways not only with my education. One example of this is I have been able to work the whole time that I have been attending classes. This allowed me to save enough money that now when I transfer to NIU in January with my associates degree, I will be able to pay for it in full without taking out student loans. This was one of my fears be for going into college was that I was going to be in debt after. At first, I was nervous about the extra workload and how this could effect my grades, but looking back, applying for the honors program was one of the smartest things I could have done. The program offers many opportunities, such as conferences and traveling, to learn more about my major and much more. The honors program asks that we create a thesis in our senior year. I believe that this will be very beneficial in that it will make us well rounded in our subjects of study. It will prove to our peers and future employers that we are educated in our fields and prepared to start working in the real world.
I have grown to want to flourish in my beginning and increasing skills. My past self from August was sweet to be hope that I would feel better as when I wrote the letter, I was in a struggling place of self-worth. Past Brooke, I sure am okay! I am in a good place in my life, and I hope I will only escalate. I have been smiling and optimistic that I can do more than I have believed I could.
