Over the course of English 1302 at Texas Tech, I feel that my skills as a writer improved significantly. English 102 so far has been interesting for an 8:30am class; I did not expect to be so awake for a class so early. Professor Denton makes the class attention grabbing, something few professors I have had, had been able to accomplish well or at all. However, I do not particularly like the portfolio grading style enforced by the English department; it leaves too much in the wind. Professor Denton removes the feeling of not knowing how well you are doing until the very end, by giving us suggestions for revisions and a letter grade to go along with the paper. This is extremely convenient, because it does not leave your paper or your grade up to speculation. So far, we have completed an editorial and evaluation papers. I liked the editorial paper

I had a wonder semester in LSIS 4505. The three things that I learned during this course is how to make a lesson plan, what books are banned and challenged in different districts, and bibliotherapy books. It takes times to make a lesson plan. Sometimes your lesson plan does not always go as plan. When my teacher first assigned this, I was nervous because this was my first time making one. I did not have the correct knowledge on how to make a lesson plan. Now that I did that assignment, I now know what it takes to make a good lesson plan. Some districts banned and challenged many books. A challenged book is identified by a person or group as materials which should be re-evaluated for appropriateness, usually for children or young adults in schools.
