As I am near the end of my writing 102 course, I have been reflecting on my experience and studies this semester . while the course was focused on the study of English writing. The lessons that I took were extremely useful. I will demonstrate how did this course helped me improve my self knowledge, writing knowledge, and critical knowledge. The writing 102 course helped me understand many things about the way I think and they way I handle things, it improved my Self knowledge .When I left the writing 101 course and entered the writing 102 course I thought that this course would be very easy since it is similar to 101.
I believe that this essay reflects my growth as a writer by expressing the vocabulary that I have picked up on throughout my essays, and the structure that I have learned to use since enrolling into this course. I have now learned how to correctly make a parenthetical citation and a work cited page, which will definitely help me with future essays that I will have to
This semester is my first collegiate term. Ultimately, I have a command of how to distribute the time of learning, and I gained some harvest through reading Aesop’s Fables. In the vocabulary, I learned even though a word, no matter how surprisingly simple it is or how clearly I have known its certain meaning during the high school, it still has other important meaning or character need us to study. Take “address” as an example. In high school, I already know it is a noun, which means a place where a person or organization may be communicated with, while through looking it up in the dictionary, I understood more about it.
English 095 made me realize that I enjoy English, and I want to maybe teach English someday. I enjoyed learning everything that my teacher taught me in English 095. We reviewed grammar during the first couple weeks of class. Honestly,
This is based on helping students reach the zone of proximal development (de Silva Joyce & Fleez, 2016; Kalantzis et al., 2016). For example, in the year 1 to 4 English curriculum descriptions, students are to use other texts as models for their own (ACARA, n.d.). This example corresponds quite closely to the aforementioned scaffolding in the functional model. In addition, the year six creating literature string asks for students to create texts by a similar breakdown and analysis as the functional model (ACARA, n.d.). Therefore, there is sufficient evidence in the curriculum documents to show the relevance and influence of this
-- Seek help at the Writing Center and/or feedbacks from students/professors/advisers. -- Read over other classmate’s papers and observe their writing styles. In order to measure my progress, I will keep a folder specifically for my Communications Skills course. For each writing assignment, I will keep a journal to remind myself of the goals that I have outlined above and mentally check them off before I submit my writing assignment. My second improvement would be the ability to speak in front of the large group of people, as stated in my Intro Letter, Although, I have overcome this problem over the years; I still feel some anxiety once giving a speech to my fellow classmates in the new college environment.
AP Language and Composition is a course that I have aspired to take since the early days of my Freshman year of high school. Since then, I have been working towards this goal by improving my writing and reading comprehension. I should be a part of this course because of my passion for reading, my history of hard work and the opportunities that will open up for me. From a young age, I have developed a love for reading. Many of my favorite works have been found in the “Local History” section of my neighborhood library in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
We learn History by going to school and reading textbooks or by researching on the Internet. This describes how important language is to communicate history to us. Even Historians use books and artifacts to understand History. This is all related to language. Also, the example that Mr. Gardner stated in his session about how language creates emotions in the reader is also very relevant here.

Reflective Letter on MWA #1 I believe that the purpose of major writing assignment number one was to improve our interview skills and solidify our understanding of genre as used in the context of our class. For this writing assignment I created a Weebly website that is meant to teach the class about the most important genre used in the field of computer science. To successfully do this I first gave a brief description of what computer science entails and that what it does not, I then followed up the description with a few questions and answers from my interview while also describing my professor that I interviewed. Finally, I began writing about my genre—developmental collaborative writing on a whiteboard—and gave its purpose followed by a few links. These links lead to the descriptions of my genre’s audience, rhetorical factors, structure, and style of writing; with all of the information presented on my website there should be a good enough description of developmental collaborative writing to help my fellow classmates understand what it is.
In a way to introduce me to future academic writings, the course of English Composition 1, indeed, has taught me important skills that can help me cope for future non-major required courses for me and in some aspects of my major. First, with the help of the “Create a Research Space” (CARS) Model of Research Introductions by writer and linguist John Swales, I learned how to decipher some readings by famous writers such
Studying English Literature helped me perfect my analysing skills. I have the ability to find the themes in a text and connect them with other texts. Working with historical events and theories has allowed me to work with complex ideas. English Literature and History were a perfect match. I am able to use my planning and research skills in my other subjects like citizenship.
Currently, at Pasadena City College (PCC), I am a student who is part of the Honors program and is committed to his academics. The Honors program has enriched my learning experience through rigorous objectives and challenging assignments that undoubtedly have contributed to my knowledge, character, and drive. I have, for example, accomplished four honors English courses and done the honors assignments for each: from creating a short story to creating a poem that commemorates The Great War, I have passed the classes with A 's. However, it has been more than the grades, it is also knowledge and wisdom that I have gained in completing the classes. Moreover, at PCC, I have the opportunity to be the treasurer for the Psychology Club, which has taught me valuable lessons on how to run a club and work efficiently with team members.
The overall goal of this semester’s internship is to work in collaboration with the Associate VP of Student Services and other members of CNM to implement the Google website translation tool on the entire CNM website based on the results from the first internship survey.
