Abstract: English is the most widely used second language in the world. It is one of the official languages of the European Union and many international organizations and Commonwealth countries. It is also one of the working languages of the United Nations. As such a global language, English is developing rapidly in China, and there is a lot of connection between Chinese and English in history. Therefore, this paper discusses the development and change of English in the important period of modern Chinese history.
