1.1 Background
Since the industrial revolution took place at the 18th century, the usage of fossil fuel has become the integral part human race. It has been used to power the economy and deliver unprecedented affluence into the lives of many people. The fossil fuel is an organic matter from decomposed flora and fauna is processed by pressure and heat from the earth’s core. Fossil fuel has been widely used in applications such as power plant, motorcars, ships, airplanes, and etc. However, the burning of fossil fuel produces greenhouse gasses primarily carbon dioxide that has an advent effect on the environment in recent decade. The excess of the greenhouse gasses in the environment has led to global warming which in turn, has become a common …show more content…

However, the extra electrical motor and battery system that has to be carried by the hybrid vehicle have an effect on the performance of the vehicle. The extra weight of the vehicle causes the system efficiency to decrease. Besides that, the current battery technology still suffers from performance and reliability issue. The battery technology is considers heavy and the capacity of the battery is still a liability in any electric hybrid vehicle. The current electric motor used in parallel hybrid vehicle is used to assists the vehicle in driving condition such as stop/go or urban driving. The output electric motor in the parallel hybrid vehicle is still not enough to support the vehicle to be driven in certain condition such as highway driving. The electric motor factor in the parallel hybrid vehicle is still not sufficient to improve the performance and the fuel economy of the vehicle. The electric motor provides instant power without lag which translated into higher torque to the vehicle. Thus, the vehicle requires different type of transmission ratios that is different from the conventional transmission.

1.3 Objectives
The objectives of the research are as shown:
• To simulate the performance of the parallel hybrid drivetrain using LMS Imagine.Lab AMESim program
• To study the effect of hybridization factor on the peformance of …show more content…

In this chapter, the report will introduce the background and the objectives of the research tittle. The chapter will states the problem and the scope of the research. The introduction will introduce the hybrid vehicle as a whole.
Chapter 2 is a more detail in literature review for a hybrid electrical vehicle. The types of hybrid electrical vehicle configuration will be generally introduced and its methods in delivering the power to the vehicle. At the same time, the advantages and disadvantages of the hybrid electric vehicle will be assessed and explained the research focus that will be on parallel type hybrid electric vehicle. The chapter will discussed about the need of simulation and the reasons of software to be used in the research. In addition, the chapter will discussed about the method of modelling based on previous research done.
Chapter 3 is the methodology section. The methods that used to apply for the whole cycle are being discussed. A modelling simulation has been approached in this chapter. The section will discuss the test that is going to be done and how it’s going to be done to obtained the data of the
