EPHEDRINE HYDROCHLORIDE The crystal chosen for this report is Ephedrine Hydrochloride. In this report, the crystal structure, unit cell, it uses and the synthesizing of the crystal will be discussed. Ephedrine is a chemical that is extracted from the Chinese plant Ephedra. Ephedra was said to be discovered by a Chinese emperor named Shen Lung. This discovery was established in 2700BC. In that era of time, technology was not yet established therefore, medication was made by hand and that includes Ephedrine which was eaten or utilised straight from the plant Ephedra which is called ‘Ma Huang’ in Chinese. Even to this day, it is used in herbal medicine in Asia.1 Apart from it being used in Asia, Western medicine has also taken an interest in the plant. In order to obtain the crystals that are now recognised in Western medicine, a Japanese man named Nagai isolated the ephedrine alkaloid and thus he named the naturally occurring chemical, Ephedrine.2 Instead of taking the …show more content…

Metformin hydrochloride exists in a single stable crystalline form. There is one known polymorph of metformin hydrochloride, which exists only in a metastable state and hence is out of consideration of this formulation. C. Rationale: Selected dosage form is an extended release oral tablet.
1. Papyrus Ebers This Egyptian artifact is one of the earliest documents related to the practice of pharmacy and list of medications. The Papyrus Ebers actually shared a lot of base routes of administration with modern pharmacy such as ointments, creams, suspensions, tablets, and many other common ways to administer drugs. This document was one of the first large written accounts of early pharmaceutical practice.1 2.
Identification of an Unknown Compound using Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis Lauren Tremaglio Chemistry 1011 Lab, Section 16 Instructor: Steven Belina October 3, 2014 Our signatures indicate that this document represents the work completed by our group this semester. Experimental Design and Discussion of Results The objective of this experiment was to identify an unknown compound through quantitative and qualitative analysis. In order to find the identity of the unknown compound, an initial qualitative test for solubility was performed.
RCMC Medical Center has announced natural and safe appetite suppressants in Rancho Cucamonga that target stubborn fat deposits to help weight loss. Rancho Cucamonga, CA - May, 2016 - RCMC Medical Center, a medical weight loss clinic in Rancho Cucamonga and San Juan Capistrano, is pleased to announce a natural and safe appetite suppressant that also targets stubborn fat deposits to help with weight loss efforts. When over eating or certain medical conditions are contributing factors to excess weight, appetite suppressants have been proven to help those individuals lose weight. Over the years, medical advancements have made this weight loss aid safer and more effective, particularly with the use of the hormone HCG. HCG is produced during pregnancy to help transport nutrients
Herbal ephedra, which is also known as Ma huang, Chinese ephedra and epitonin, is the world's oldest medicine. The Chinese discovered ephedra in the form of the Ma Huang plant more than 5,000 years ago and it is the basis of Traditional Chinese Medicine. A 1999 UC Berkeley study tells us that the Chinese took sun-dried stems from this ancient plant and ground them up into manageable pieces for use in teas. These teas are still used in many societies, especially in the American Southwest.
Making meth a multi-step process. According to, “www.drugfreeworld.org/drugfacts/crystalmeth“”, the key ingredient in manufacturing meth is ephedrine, which is found in over the counter cough medicine. Meth is commonly made with everyday household items; such as ammonia, lye, red phosphorus scraped
According to “National Institute on Drug Abuse; National Institutes of Health; U.S. Department of Health and Human Services”, Methamphetamine is a stimulant drug that comes in different forms. The different type of forms the drugs come in may need to be altered before the person takes it. Some ways the drug can be taken is by smoking it, injecting it, snorting it or putting it in a liquid drink. In addition, Methamphetamine is also called meth, crystal, chalk, and ice (National Institute on Drug Abuse).
The following lab period the solid was weighed (0.0483 g) and percent yield was calculated (65.5%) with the limiting reagent being tetraphenylcyclopentadienone. The melting point was determined. The first melting point was 204-204.9 °C and the second melting point was 215.6-215.9°C. Finally, an infrared spectroscopy was obtained for the
Methamphetamine or “Meth” is one of the most addictive and dangerous drugs available. It is a man-made, central nervous system stimulant drug that gives first time users a great “high experience” because of the extreme increase of dopamine levels in the body. Meth has many nicknames including: ice, crystal, chalk, crank and rock. It is responsible for hundreds of deaths every year around the United States. Meth works by rushing dopamine, a neurochemical, into your brain which will lead the user to feel a pleasurable and enjoyable experience.
It was firstly synthesized from Opium (dried latex like substance obtained from the poppy plant) by a German pharmacist Friedrich Wilhelm Adam Sertürner back in 1804. He named this drug of his after Morpheus, the Greek god of dreams. Morphine was initially used as a painkiller. It was also surprisingly used as a cure to opium addiction back in the 18th century. It was used
PHARMACOLOGY OF DEXMEDETOMIDINE Dexmedetomidine HCl, an imidazole compound is the pharmacologically active s-enantiomer of medetomidine, a veterinary anaesthetic agent. It is described chemically as (+)-4-(s)[2 3 –(dimethylphenyl) ethyl]-11 H-imidazole monohyrochloride. Its empirical formula is C13H16N2HCl and its molecular weight is 236.7(57). During this time, other researchers confirm the cyclic structure of dextrins by X-ray crystallography [34, 35]. In 1948, his group discovered γ-dextrin and elucidated its structure [36]. He suggested for the first time, the hydrophobicity of inner cavity in dextrins
Herbal Medicine The WHO has defined that before the invention of modern chemical medicine, people used to use herbal drug for therapeutic practice for centuries. Traditional medicinal drug is the blend of restorative knowledge of eras of honing doctors of indigenous arrangement of medication. Traditional herbal drugs include therapeutic plants, minerals and natural matter and so on. Herbal medications constitute just those conventional medicines which fundamentally utilize as therapeutic plant arrangements for treatment.
