The American Dream
The American Dream is this ideal that every US resident has equal opportunity to achieve success through hard work and initiative. The idea of the American Dream has been altered and expectations have lowered to make the dream more accessible. America provides access for all people to achieve their dream by providing financial aid and an available variety of jobs, but only through hard work can you make your dream a reality.
America provides every student in the US an opportunity to go to school and earn a high school diploma for free. The fact that we have free schooling is helpful and provides opportunity for achieving the American dream. Students also get support from their teachers and their peers. The support may come in one on one conversations, special programs and clubs, or classes like avid which focuses on getting students into college. Another program available for getting into college or universities are scholarships. In Obama’s Keynote Address speech, he talked about his father who came from a small village in Kenya herding goats and not thinking about education or a future. Washington State has one of the higher minimum wages. The minimum wage provides an opportunity to make some sort of salary to support an individual and their family. Without a minimum wage, companies would give unreasonable pay to save money for themselves. Jobs also promote the employees that work and contribute to the company.
