The Cold War became a period of extreme ideological challenges which attempted to enforce a new economic and political structure on the world. It is clear through Winston Churchill’s ‘Iron Curtain Speech’ that imperial struggle still existed in the world as the West saw the Soviet sphere of influence as an issue to “the safety of the world.” Stalin attempted to justify the military and USSR influence in Eastern Europe as a safety net to prevent external imperial influence. Russia’s satellite countries also allowed for the spread of imperial influence and ensure a similar event to World War Two would not occur near the USSR

Power as conceptualized by critical theorists. Power is one of the words that holds great effect. It is defined by Webster (2015) as “the ability to control people or things; a person or organization that has a lot of control and influence over other people or organizations”. In general, a person or organization that holds power has authority over others. Thus, power is conceptualized in the organizational communication by critical theorists.
It is heavily influenced from the Groation tradition. According to this perspective, regimes are much more pervasive and exist in all areas of international relations. Contrary to the conventional structure and modified structural, this viewpoint moves away from realist thinking as it is “too limited to explain an increasingly complex, interdependent, and complex world.” This approach rejects the assumption that the international system is comprised of states and the balance of power is solely due to force. Anarchy and the distribution of power are insufficient to tell us which is which”(Wendt, 79). Based on Wendt’s philosophy, whether the international system is conflictual or peaceful is not due to anarchy and power but due the shared relations and social practices between states. By interacting with other states, Wendt argues that identities will form based on diplomatic gestures, which means states can be able to achieve peaceful relations. Simply put, anarchy does not control conflictual relationships between states.

In the other hand, structural realism does not define the quest for power, instead it is focused on the structure of the international
