The applications having ability to handle the core business and operational data of enterprises typically fall in multi-tiered [1] category.
Ericsson Network Manager (ENM) provides centralized operation and maintenance capabilities for Ericsson Network Elements. It provides powerful and unified performance and configuration management, software, hardware and fault management, as well as security, self-monitoring, and system administration. It offers simplified network management with advanced querying and filtering capabilities, shorter troubleshooting lead times, and faster implementation of network changes.

To take advantage of the cloud model, ENM as a product needs to evolve in two particular directions to enhance the deployment flexibility, those are: Service Registration and Service Availability based on auto scale strategies. Both are tied up and the Availability strategy will have a high dependency on the Service Registration strategy.
We need to select one of the approaches for service registration [28]:
 DNS based service registration
 Key/value based service registration
When selecting service discovery architecture, below questions arise:
 What should be the best strategy for deploying service discovery clients?
 What types of services need to be addressed in service discovery system?
