In my geometric character analysis I analyzed Paul and Erik Fisher. Paul and Erik are brother that have a kind of broken relationship. Paul is the main character in the story while Erik seems to be praised by both his parent because of the “Erik Fisher football dream”. Erik seems to be always in the background causing mischief without the parents seeing it while Paul is just trying to get through 7th grade.
I made Paul an octagon colored in light blue that fades into an orange. He is also in the center of the page. The octagon is a light blue because Paul is a nice and kind kid, but it fades into orange because when he plays soccer it's not a game to him. On page 198 When he is talking to Gino after they beat his team, Gino says, “It’s cool I don’t mind. It’s only a game, Mars.” and Paul quietly replies “Maybe to you it is.” The octagon is in the center of the page because Paul is the main character in the book.

He is also slightly behind paul “hiding in his shadow”. I made the triangle black fading into gold then fading into red because Erik is really shady and shifty. Like it says on page 168 He could see Erik lurking behind him hiding in the shadows. The gold represents how whenever he is near is parents or any adult he always acts like a golden kid and also because his parents, especially his dad see him as their favorite, shown by how paul is always talking about the “Erik Fisher football dream”. The red represents his rage, like how on page 205 after Tino mocks him he quickly hits Tino across the face because of how mad he got and then again on page 262 when Paul is telling him how he saw Arthur kill Luis Cruz and Erik Starts Yelling LIAR!! and smashes one of Arthur's head lights. I have him smaller and behind the octagon because as I stated on page 168 it talked about how Erik was figuratively lurking behind him hiding in the
At the end of the battle, when Erik was hit, he was sent into a trench as the Russians took over. He was looking at his surroundings until he heard “A lumbering oaf of a foot soldier, using a bayonet, was dispatching other Germans…many of those he was bayoneting looked already dead; he was just making sure.” (Wulffson, Page 74) Erik knew that even if he pretended he was dead, there was a high possibility he would be stabbed. At that moment, Erik decides on the way he’ll survive. “In that cramped charnel house beneath the tank, I removed
I’m sure” ( Bloor 133). This quote shows explains how Erik will seek revenge, because he got humiliated in front of the whole town. If Mrs.Fisher had been in control of Erik, he wouldn’t be the evil murderer he is today.
Jeremy Fink has a big fear of change. This shows that he doesn’t really like to try new things and he is not really a risk taker. Jeremy, a 12 year old, has been living without his father for five years now and that has been tough on him. That is one of the reasons he doesn’t like change, because the biggest change he can remember is living without his father. Another example is Jeremy’s food choice.
“Decisions we make are the hardest thing when to make, especially when it is a choice between where you should be and where you want to be-Unknown” Erik is always choosing to be where he wants to be rather than choosing where he should be. Erik Fisher’s choices impact Paul by spray painting Paul 's eyes, hitting Tino, and killing Luis. A choice made by Erik Fisher affects paul by impairing Paul’s vision. Erik spray painted Paul 's eyes because Erik and his friend Vencent Caster were spray painting the walls of the neighborhood and they had thought paul had told on them, so they wanted revenge on Paul.
Erik and his old friend, Castor, chose to make Paul visually impaierd. “And I remembered Erik’s finger prying my eyelids open while Vincent Castor sprayed white paint into them” (Bloor 264). “They told me that your eyes would heal, slowly” (Bloor 265). The effects of Erik’s choice, were very severe. Paul became visually impaired and his parents never
Erik does this in many different vicious ways, like calling him mean names for wearing those big old glasses. Erik does all these things throughout the story to make sure paul thinks lesser of himself, this is so paul would never stand up to him for all the deceiving things Erik did. Paul always accepted the way he treated him. He never tried to put a stop to him or get him in trouble, this was until the voice of Luiz Cruz got into his head and told him to make a difference. Shortly after, he talked to the police and spilt all the info he knew about the situation, and so this finally put an end to all Erik’s scheming
The Condensed Life of Braden Andersen Meet Braden Anderson, his prefered time of day is exactly midnight. He enjoys eating at the restaurant Pietro 's from time to time. If he could lives inside any TV show it would be Gravity Falls. Braden believes that if he were to be reincarnated into any animal it would be a wolf. He would like to travel to Alaska at some point in his life.
Erik is very rude, disrespectful, dissolute, sneaky, and egocentric, versus his brother being very kind and caring to others. Erik’s actions of evil traits are ongoing, but definitely more pronounced by his actions after Mike Costello’s death. “I carried my bags of groceries on into the kitchen and set them down. Then I heard a strange sound. It was the sound of voices in the backyard.
Character Comparison There are many similarities between characters from A Separate Peace and Dead Poets Society. One of them is between Neil and Finny. They both have lots of energy and are very friendly. Two other characters that are similar are Todd and Gene. They’re both quiet and dedicated to their academics.
Furthermore, it is also axiomatic that Erik has a rather violent temperament. For instance, he attempts to injure Paul Fisher on a multitude of occasions. Correspondingly, he is fractionally culpable for the aforementioned cessation of the life of Luis Cruz. Erik could further be portrayed as easily irascible and negatively impulsive. As it is described by Tangerine
The most important way Erik impacts Paul is he causes Paul’s life to become full of constant fear and anxiety. This is proven by Bloor when his character Paul states, “I have always been afraid of Erik” (42). Paul has been afraid of Erik his entire life, as Bloor indicates by this quote. The quote also gives the reason why Paul tries to avoid Erik, and sets up the
Intriguing, inventive, and unusual are some words to describe the novel Tangerine by Edward Bloor. This novel is about protagonist, Paul Fisher, who just moved from Houston, Texas, to Tangerine County Florida where he has to deal with natural disasters striking everyday. On top of that he has to withstand his dissolute brother, Erik Fisher, the antagonist at home. He also needs to endure the favoritism portrayed by his father towards Erik and his football dream. In this novel we find out how Paul Fisher last living in this irregular neighborhood.
“I am strong, because I’ve been weak” In the book Tangerine by Edward Bloor, the Fishers move from Texas to Florida because Mr. Fisher gets a new job. Paul is told that he became blind by staring into an eclipse for too long, but later learned that it was his brother’s fault. Even though Paul starts off with a low self-esteem, he learns that he is strong, and can do whatever he puts his mind to. “I’m still afraid of Erik.
Erik messes with Paul’s friends a lot. However, picking on Tino had a big effect on Paul. First, Erik saw Tino’s friend and he said “Look at this. I think it’s great that these farm-labor kids get to spend a day away from the fields. ”(pg.204).
“Don’t judge a book by its’ cover.” Have you ever heard that phrase? It means that looks can be deceiving, and while one thing might look fine the inside/content could be truly terrible. Edward Bloor’s character, Erik in the novel, Tangerine is similar in that fashion. Choices that Erik make, not only affect him they also affect Paul,( the main character).
