Ernst Hans Gombrich was an Austrian art historian as well as a writer. E.H. Gombrich lived in the 20th Century. Gombrich graduated from the University of Vienna. After that he worked at the Warburg University of London as a Research Assistant in 1936. During the Second World War the BBC employed him as a Radio Monitor. In 1956-1959 Gombrich was a professor of the History of Art at the University. Throughout his life Gombrich had many jobs, such as historian professor and director and a writer. Gombrich wrote many great books however I’d like to list only five of them. Some of his main books were The Story of Art was published in 1950 as his first book. His other rather fairly popular book was A Little History of the World, which was first translated in 2005, already after Gombrich death. His other more popular books were Art and Illusion, which was published in 1960, Meditations on a Hobby Horse, which was published in 1963 and the Symbolic Images, which was published in 1972. Gombrich since he was such a great author and such a great person he received many awards and honors. Some of these awards were the Erasmus Prize in 1975, the Hegel Prize in 1976, Balzan Prize in 1985, Ludwig Wittgenstein Prize in 1988 and Goethe Prize in 1994. This book is relevant today becuase it has important messages about bravery and putting things into action and exploring. I think these messages are important in current events today in many ways. One ways is that we always need to be brave in everything we do. Also we need to explore and see new thigs I the world to get a better understanding of different places in the world. That is how i think the messages in the book are relavent today.
In both Complete Maus and Night, there is a clear depiction that times of war unleash chaos on those involved, however, they are able to bring family members closer to one another in search of hope and safety. Throughout both novels, Vladek and Elie show clear acts of perseverance to help their family members in just Auschwitz alone. The acts that took place in Auschwitz are the worst possible things Humans can do to each other; mass-murder. However, during this time Vladek attempts to aid the love of his life, Anja, while Elie makes caring for his father his number 1 priority. It is evident that their actions determine the outcomes of the lives of their family members as well.

Elie Wiesel is one of the many people in this world that have lived and endured through many tragic events throughout their life due to genocide. However, it has inspired him to become a human rights activist. He, like many others, have been affected by the harmful ways of genocide in which it has inspired him to make a difference in the world. He has seen and been through mass killings, starvation, and many more that traumatized him (Machajewski 6). The cruel world that Wiesel had seen and been through during the Holocaust has inspired him to educate people’s minds about genocide and its harm on society through his works of literature and activism.

A simple book written with the best intentions; Ray brings to the world Fahrenheit 451 in 1953 (Kipen). Having World War II influencing Ray’s ideas for the book. Fahrenheit 451 brings ideas and points that Ray Bradbury felt the need to write and open the public’s eyes to, as to how technology is changing people’s lives and they are leaving behind books and their critical thinking. Ray Bradbury brings a book about censorship and how banning or in this case burning books does not keep people from the curiosity of the message books have. A big irony arises and his book becomes banned and censored, exactly the same way as in his book.

Thomas Jefferson was a very smart and intelligent man that started off by becoming a lawyer. Thomas Jefferson had an exceptional talent as he had the gift of writing, the way he wrote was fascinating.
The author, Sarah B. Pomeroy, writes this book in a style that resembles a textbook with many examples. She structures it in a timeline chronologically telling the events and breaking up the subject matter. The book lacked personality, although she had strong opinions that came through when writing the book, the style of writing lacked personality and was hard to read at times. The subject matter I found very interesting, considering it correlated with my class currently. At times, while I read this book, I found myself angry with men because of their brutal and thoughtfulness of women.
