Your Honor, my client is pleading guilty to the charges of breaking the Espionage Act. Although Mr. Debs is extremely sorry for the disturbance he has caused but he was only exercising his first amendment right, peacefully. My client is aware, and has a clear understanding in what the Espionage Act is put in place for; the real problem is how could a law such as this exist? The espionage Act is in place to stop treason, and anti -americanism thoughts, but there is not enough war propaganda that exist to prohibit people from realizing war is not completely glorious.
Any person that is anti- war does not make them anti-American. War can have great outcomes, such as gaining allies, land, money, but the lives lost and families torn apart can
The outcomes of war can sometimes be positive and sometimes negative. In My brother Sam is Dead the authors, James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier, are trying to tell you that war can be good like Patriots fighting for our freedom. Since WWII had already passed we get the advantage of knowing that the patriots won and gained freedom. However at the time people didn’t know if their sacrifices will be actually worth it. War shouldn't be considered a mandatory action even if we may win because there’s still the lives being taken because of it, children killed by men with guns in their hands.
The Act does not allow not only spying but also a lot of other activities, including certain kinds of expressions .that a person will be punished with fine or go to prison for not more than ten years if he or she copies, takes, makes, or obtain anything connected with the national defense. The Act will find any one a criminal if he or she is found getting information with respect to the national defense with a reason to believe
(AGG) When picturing war, the large majority of people will always imagine pain, suffering, and loss. (BS-1) War is understandably viewed in a largely negative light, one reason being its tendency to cause Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, a disorder that is hard to cope with. (BS-2) However, some good can come out of a dreadful situation, including the improved trust among those who have gone through tragedy together.
The USA Patriot Act was signed into law on Oct. 26, 2001, due to the need for cooperation among all levels of security. Police and other department agencies were given powerful authority and encouraged to share information. This is to meet the goal for a safer America in times of turmoil including international affairs. But as the years have passed and as terrorist attacks seem to cease, people have begun to question if there’s too many restrictions on law enforcement were called off.
Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act allows U.S. intelligence agencies to acquire foreign intelligence information by monitoring foreign persons in the USA and abroad. This act ensures that intelligence agencies can respond in time to terminate a security threat. The most important part of this act, the Section 702 forbids deliberate monitoring of US citizens and their communication. Technically NSA has been violating this act ever since it has been enacted in 2008 because, as we know, they have been monitoring all US citizenry.
Although hundreds of thousands of people die, nothing has been achieved. What was won was lost, or will be lost again. Nothing is permanent, and life is always changing, always evolving. The end of war doesn’t mean the end of one’s ideals. War likely fuels things even more, and leads to other conflicts, which would lead to war, and it would continue in a cycle forever.
“At least 42 terrorist attacks aimed at the United States have been thwarted since 9/11” (Reality). The majority of people know about the tragedy that happened on September 11th, 2001, but not that many people know about what came to be after the event; the Patriot Act. This act is the “Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001” (Miller). The Patriot Act got put in place by the President and almost got a unanimous vote to pass it nearly ten days after. It was later used to take down many of the 42 attack plots.
It was two-thousand three when the test was established. An evolution of the patriot act, the test was created to keep people safe in the face of terrorists and murderers, communists and anarchists. The rules were simple, citizens would obey their government for three hundred sixty four twenty-four hour periods, and surveillance cameras with microphones were installed in homes and cars to monitor people for the first part of the test. Then on the three hundred sixty fifth day it was required pass the test- a four hour examination that was designed to identify those who would hard their countrymen- and most importantly, their government. If a person failed the examination, in either part, they were either imprisoned, or more commonly, terminated.

The brutality of war has scarred and devastated the world since the beginning of time, and has drastically changed over the course of history. Many precious lives of loved ones have been lost to war and continue to as fighting rages on. Famous Revolutionary War hero, George Washington, stated “My first wish [as president] is to see this plague of mankind, war, banished from the earth” (George Washington Quotes). General Washington witnessed the terror of war while fighting for independence from Great Britain. Against his wishes, war and violence continued as history went on.
The most prominent victim was Eugene Debs, who was convicted under the Espionage Act for delivering an antiwar speech. Report of the speech at Canton on June 16, that not a word of the speech had warrant the charges of the indictment. Debs admitted to delivering the speech. Debs purpose was to have the people understand something about the social system in which they lived in and prepare them to change to system, peacefully and orderly. Debs has never advocated violence in any form.
That 's why I think that war is unfair hard and futile. And those are the many reasons why war is all that type of stuff. Then the evidence that shows the clash of generations division of families and principle vs reality. And that 's how it affected families and generations and brutalities and freedom.
War and its affinities have various emotional effects on different individuals, whether facing adversity within the war or when experiencing the psychological aftermath. Some people cave under the pressure when put in a situation where there is minimal hope or optimism. Two characters that experience

As Herbert Hoover eloquently put it, “Older men declare war. But it is the youth that must fight and die.” War has no mercy. It takes homes, tears families apart, and steals childhoods from innocent people. Such is the case in A Separate Peace, by John Knowles.
