There were approximately 14.1 million new cases of cancer diagnosed last 2012 which are expected to rise by about 70% over the next two decades. The top five cancers among men include lung, prostrate, colorectum, stomach and liver cancer. On the other hand, breast, colorectum, lung, cervix and stomach cancer are among the most common sites of cancer for women (De Martel, et.al, 2012). Furthermore, the WHO (World Health Organization) emphasized that cancer is now the leading cause of death worldwide accounting for 8.2 million deaths in 2012. Most of which is caused by lung cancer with almost a fifth of its incidence (1.59 million deaths).

Nutrients, energy and oxygen are being supplied to the tumor cells by the formation of new blood vessels. As more number of new blood vessels is formed, tumor cells grow and divide and form larger tumors. At the same time, certain chemicals that induce the formation of angiogenesis are being released. Formation of new blood vessels is common in the proliferation of cancer cells and aid in the tumor growth and development, hence, a new and comprehensive approach in dealing with cancer is anti-angiogenesis therapy, which stops tumors from making new blood vessels using the drugs or other pharmaceutical substances (Uppungala,
During my University 111 class, I was given the opportunity to read the Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. This read was connected to the most important medical breakthrough of the 20th century that changed the face of scientific research. This was the discovery of the numerous uses of cancerous cervical cells from a colored woman named Henrietta Lacks, to science she was HeLa. Her cells aided in the understanding of the development of AIDS/HIV treatment, the development of the polio vaccine, understanding the nutritional needs of cells, and stronger requirements of patient consent laws. To better understand the reading, the class was assigned a project that would allow us to make societal connections.
In the years of the 1980’s an estimated 89.9 million which is 50% of U.S adults were ever smokers and 45.8% were current smokers. Three main factors to this trend in cancer is frequent exposure to environmental carcinogens, inheritance of cancer genes and having a weak immune system. For instance, “ The results of the research indicate that DNA damage does occur in workers exposed to low concentrations of styrene.” (Doc. D) Since workers are frequently being exposed to carcinogens their cells are vulnerable to damage. A majority of these workers that come in contact with these carcinogens work in construction or agricultural fields.
During the first decades of the 20th century, lung cancer and other
When I see somebody with cancer, I get really mad, I say to myself, ”Why must this disease be real. Why did God create something so horrible that it can affect anybody.” If it was I who had ten million dollars, I would donate it to St.Jude's Cancer Research Facilities because it is a deadly disease, it is a real-nonprofit research organization, and it covers all expenses for families. Cancer is among the top ten leading causes of death in the world. This disease takes nearly eight million lives every year.
There are many deadly disease that affect human life. one of the most deadly disease is cancer. Cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells divide without control and can invade nearby tissues.(4) Cancer cells can also spread to other parts of the body through the blood and lymph systems.(4) There are many types of cancer and one of the most dangerous one is skin cancer. Skin cancer effect millions of people around the world every year.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer in men and the second in women worldwide, accounting for almost 10 % of all cases.{1,2} the USA and Europe have high rates compared to Africa and Asia.{3,4} Only in the United States, nearly 135,000 new cases diagnosed annually that about 50,000 people will die of the disease .{5, American Cancer Society. Cancer Facts & Figures 2015. Atlanta:American Cancer Society.2015 }In Iran CRC is the third most common cancer in women and the Fifth in men.{6} The biggest problem is the high ability of CRC to form secondary tumours, particularly in the lung and liver. Other complication connected to CRC is the high heterogeneity of the genetic and epigenetic changes among the individual
In Canada, the average cigarette consumption among daily smokers had dropped from 15 cigarettes per day (GPD) in 2012 to 13.9 GPD in 2013. From 1999 to 2013, cigarette consumption has declined significantly, by more than 3 cigarettes per day. And the yearly consumption during this time period kept decreasing by 1.3% averagely (Propel, 2015). According to the statistics conducted in 2013, “average daily cigarette consumption was 15.2 for male smokers and 12.5 for female smokers, which was a statistically significant difference” (Propel, 2015, p18). Between 2012 and 2013 consumption declined greatly among males but not females.
A large number of cigarette manufacturers in Indonesia can not be separated from Indonesian consumption levels quite high. Currently, six of the ten poorest households in Indonesia have expenditures on cigarettes. Cigarette has a second priority after rice.
Worldwide, tobacco use causes about 90% of lung cancer deaths, 30% of all cancers, 20-25% of coronary heart diseases and stroke deaths, and more than 80% of chronic bronchitis and emphysema”. (Jordan 1). Secondly not only does it affect smokers but even people who don 't even partake in the activity of smoking cigarettes. Second hand smoke is a serious issue and can cause cancer almost easy as being an actual smoker can.
Smoking causes close to 40% of cancer death in the US. Each year, cigarettes kill about 500,000 deaths in the US and about 6 million deaths around the world. Cigarettes are the reason for most of the deaths in our society today that is not a death by a natural cause. Even though smoking has been in a sharp decline in the past decade, there are still around 40 million of people in the US that still smoke cigarettes. This high number really concerns many doctors and
