What is a canteen? Based on Merriam-Webster Dictionary a canteen is "A store in a camp, school, etc., in which food, drinks, and small supplies are sold”. A canteen serves different kinds of variety of foods to the community. As a transferee student and studying for two semesters here in this school, I have noticed that the Far Eastern University - Diliman needs to have changes in their canteen.
As a college student, I think that the canteen in FEU Diliman lacks nutritional foods for the community. To start off, the canteen serves junk foods to everyone. I have read an article online that talks about Junk foods and based on what I have learned a Junk foods contains high levels of calories from fat and sugar and has little fiber, proteins, vitamins and minerals. For me, a school should not be selling these kinds of foods since junk foods does not give any health benefits and it just makes the person gets sick from eating too much amount of junk foods regularly. Most especially to grade school and high school students, the canteen in the school

The community in the canteen are very strict with the non-biodegradable, biodegradable and recyclable waste bins. All the student body follows this rule. Through this, our community is becoming earth friendly and the segregation of trashes are good. It can help everyone to dispose their trashes properly and knowledgeable to where they are supposed to dispose their wastes. Also, FEU Diliman canteen offers breakfast, lunch and snacks to everyone. They have variety of foods to choose from. The thing that is nice about the canteen in school is that they serve Filipino dishes as well during snack time. They serve variety of foods that most Filipino community likes. I have noticed that even the foreigners at the school likes the Filipino dishes that are offered in school and they order it often when it is served and

Hms needs a better lunch for the kids and staff. Wouldn 't be nice for the kids to know they can eat some good tasty HMS Food instead of prison food?

When the school had change the cafeteria menu to a healthier menu I was mad because the healthier food taste nasty ,and I barley ate which mean I was getting dizzy at practice because I didn't eat a lot in school. Schools shouldn't change the cafeteria menu because kids will bring their own lunch to school instead of buying it, some kids will protest on the change of the school menu, they will be very cranky if they don't eat and might pass out. The fist reason why schools shouldn't change the cafeteria menu is because kids will start bringing their own lunch to school. If the kids start bringing their own lunch, the school will have less money to do stuff.
Motlow State Community College does not offer a cafeteria for students at the Smyrna Center. Constructing a cafeteria at Motlow State Community College would be beneficial for everyone, including the staff and students. A cafeteria would offer convenience for students and staff, increase the attendance rate, and allow students to engage in social interactions with one another. Not only is cafeteria favorable for the Motlow State community, but it would multiply the revenue for the school. Predominantly, constructing a cafeteria will improve the Smyrna campus as a whole.
By serving fruits and vegetables, it helps prevent health problems and promotes healthy eating habits. “Studies show most kids have grown to like the new, healthier options” (William Rice, 1). This sentence proved that kids can like the new healthier lunches standards. That also means that it not just healthy for children, it is effective . Healthy school lunches benefit education which is a great reason to agree with healthier school lunches
Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C. is known for its athletics. Most people would think a school with majority of student-athletes, would have a decent café. Well don’t expect much from Limestone College, it has a horrible café. Students who live on campus must have a meal plan, which is ridiculous. Most students throw away a lot of food which is a waste of their money.
Wouldn't it be marvelous if schools had a food court? As excited as that sounds, almost all schools don't have food courts provided. Only the richest school districts provide students and staff an inside food court. However, lunch time is an important meal, and it should be spent the way students like. Whether it is a McDonalds hamburger, or a Panera bread salad special, the students should have the freedom to choose.
They want students to eat healthy but at the same time eat what they like. when students go off campus researchers say they gain more weight then when they eat the food they like at school, healthy or not. If it’s not the healthiest food in the world then the lunches service can put less on the kids plate. Kids will eat more at school if the school sells what the kids like. FInally the school noticed it and finally started selly stir-fry stations.
Imagine if you ate fast food 5 days a week for lunch. How do you think that would affect your health and your wallet? Studies show that fast food joints within walking distance of schools show gain more profit from students than the surrounding community (Miura). Today I am going to show you the health risks an open campus lunch poses, the threat of schools losing money, and the dangers to the community that it can cause.
They have a lot of food like seafood, meats, vegetables, fruits,
Meanwhile, the methods of waste disposal have improved over time. Also, that getting rid of garbage is quickly becoming a big problem due to our methods of waste disposal are only a temporary solution. Moreover; the waste that can’t decompose
Is having junk food in school really such a bad idea? Does it obtain a value that some schools lack? Junk food was provided in school, before the health program came into place, banning it from schools around the country. It was proudly served and allowed in school, and also sold for many school fundraisers. Although some people might say that junk food can be unhealthy, schools should allow, or serve, some junk food because it will make the kids want to eat school lunches more, it will bring in more money to the school, and it will give the students the calories that they need.
Changing the school lunch can always be negative thing also because most teenagers between the ages of 15-19 eat a lot of junk food so they wouldn't prefer eating healthier foods. It can be a financial problem for the school also because if the school started serving just healthy foods most students wouldn't purchase school lunch it it's sad but true. To prevent that from happening i would serve foods that look appear like junk food but are a more healthier selection for example Turkey Burgers is a good product they are more better for you than a typical fast food burger. Or you can switch it up serve healthy products one day, and serve less healthy products another
The world is experiencing a dilemma today. Many people suffer from hunger, malnutrition, and other problems caused by the lack of sufficient food. However, many other people buy or order excessive foods and waste a lot. In my community, food waste is much more serious than food shortage, and it is easy to see that people throw foods in the dustbin and the foods indeed are still eatable. Food waste is a serious problem.
