The Changing Things When I was a child, I lived in a village in the South Vietnam called Gia Kiem, which was a small town and small community. Until I was ten years old, my family moved to Bien Hoa city, which is not far from Sai Gon. Three years ago, before I came to the U.S, I decided to go back to visit my relatives and friends. I really missed my native land and did not know when I could come back after leaving this time. I took the bus from Bien Hoa to Gia Kiem. When I was sitting in the bus, I was very nervous and expected to see the place where I grew up. Surprisingly, at the time I got to the village, everything did not look like what I expected to see. When I was a kid and lived in the village, people here got along very well with each other. The neighbors were so friendly. They were willing to support others when someone of my village needed help. For example, in weddings or any festivals, the townspeople gathered at someone's house and prepared the ceremony or cooked together. I remember that there were a lot of laughs and noise. It was just a few years, but people changed a lot. They become more distant from each other. The neighbors do not want to spend time together. Furthermore, they live by themselves behind their close doors. I was so sad when I saw people who were walking in the road without paying any attention or care about others. They keep everything as their minds and their hearts inside. They did not want to share anymore because they were too busy on working, studying, and taking care their private families. I feel happy because my childhood was full fill by the honest and warmth of neighbors. In contrast, I feel sad in the present because the background has been changed. I feel like something in my life has been taken away. I feel sorry for the new generations because they cannot enjoy their childhood as mine. They have been growing up without a ton of nice and fun things such as running around with other kids after school time while their parents were working in the farm. They cannot
Many people would love to change Alpena’s community. Alpena is a very phenomenal place right on the shore of Lake Huron, but it has many weaknesses. Imagine a place where everyone knows their neighbor by their first name and they all get along, that is not Alpena. This community that I call my home would be perfect through my eyes if it had three simple changes to make it more friendly. I would change Alpena so it would have more money and a positive reputation to the state and the world around us.
The community has been together for over 130 years. First of all, both tribes are similar in their culture. The woman both made pottery and baskets. Both cultures are very unique and interesting by their leadership. Each village has its own chief.
During this class, we read many interesting books that I enjoyed. They all changed my views on life in different ways and made me glad i chose to take this class. The novel that impacted me most was Catcher in the Rye, which was written by J.D. Salinger. I was able to relate to the main character, get attached to the novel, and make connections to the real world today.
Sitting in a huge class with white walls and many strangers while hearing the summer bridge director give the instructions of a reading assignment made me feel frightened. Ever since I was small, I had always had a difficult time with my English writing and reading. Having challenges with my English made me have no interest in reading, until the summer bridge assignment changed my perspective of seeing books. During my experience in CSUMB Summer Bridge I was able to read a book who inspired me and changed my life completely. Our reading assignment was a book titled “The Pact” by Sampson Davis, George Jenkins, Rameck Hunt, and Lisa Frazier.
On many levels my style of writing has changed, I believe that I have got a lot better in my writing. It’s still very clear that I have a lot of areas that I need to work on. At first, I couldn’t actually believe the grade that I received on my diagnostic essay, that grade gave me hope that I would be able to past this class. Due to the rapid population growth and social differentiation, social bonds loosened and long-standing relationships weakened. Social cohesion, which formerly existed within cities, was no longer prominent. “Chicago sociologist Louis Wirth noted that life in the biggest cities was marked by a loss of community. People no longer knew their neighbors and others in the community” (Rury 138). There was no longer a connection with others that once existed in towns and neighborhoods.
A town such as this one is hard to find. Though Mrs. Tau has already established a bond with the community in her old neighborhood, hopefully being around a new group of friendly, caring and supportive neighbors, will make her feel comfortable enough to want to build new ties. Uprooting a family and moving them to a whole new area can be difficult, especially on children. Which is why, being an active member in a community is so important; it helps create a sense of stability. A theory that supports this idea, of one’s environment influencing the dynamics of a family, is the family ecological theory.
Things can change, as you can see change is not bad. Each time a new president for the united states is elected the usa does go through a dramatic change and can turn into good or bad. You can become someone better or worse. depending on you and your personal experiences. You can change your life into a billionaire if you win the lotto see there is another good change in yourself.
I woke up in Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota. I live alone, my family lives down in Iowa. Sometimes I visit my family, and they love it. I have decided to take another trip down to visit.

The aroma of home-cook Vietnamese food and the constant shift between English and Vietnamese was my life was at home. My parents would frequently share their stories of their upbringings and struggles and how life here is very different. At home I did what I was told and tried not to complain It was not because I wanted to be a good child ,but I wanted to ease the troubles in my parents life. Many things that I ask for I hear is “no” I become very frustrated at times that I do not have what my friends have.
b. I infer that George will begin reading although the story is open-ended. In the end of the story George chooses the books at random, meaning perhaps he will discover where his interest lies and will move on to read more. Moreover, there is a change in the seasons (summer to fall) which symbolizes the change that happened to George. Also, fall is also a time of harvest, and therefore the author may be implying that just as fruits that have reached maturity in the summer are ripe for harvesting in the fall, so George has been growing up that summer, and it is now time for him to "harvest the fruits" of his newfound maturity. b.
Growing up as a woman has been quite difficult in this generation, however, growing up around thirty years ago must have been more difficult. Back in the 1900’s, women had different social norms to deal with in society. Women had to stay at home, be housewives, do the laundry, and cook while men went out and worked to obtain money for their family. In Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, she tells the struggles that women went through back in the 1990 's and the social norms that women had to go through. Chopin addresses many instances of symbolism to portray the feeling Mrs. Mallard has about her own thoughts and experiences with or without a man in her life.
FLHD 1500 Can One Person Change the World? I definitely believe that it only takes one person to impact the word, make a huge difference and change it a better place. That this one person even if not being able to do a lot materially to change the world, still has the power to inspire others and help that person changes the world. It may be hard to believe, but I have a strong belief that one person can set an example for others that may affect the outcome of any and every situation. I always ask myself this question and as Maya Angelou once said, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel” and that is absolutely true.
Kate Chopin is the author of the most popular short story "The Story of an Hour". Chopin paints a bleak picture of marriage in this story. It is a short story focusing on a young married woman of the late nineteenth century as she reacts to the news that her husband has died in a train accident. The story was written in a time period when women did not really have right to express their feeling and desire. Women were supposed to stay home and take care of the family whereas the husbands went out to work.
