Coexistence Among Cultures

Getting exposed to two different cultures can be an interesting experience for some and can be a hard experience to deal with for others . Many of us nowadays would confirm the idea that knowing about cultures is very enriching fact that surely boosts one’s knowledge and allows the person to adopt the idea of the coexistence among cultures no matter what your cultural background is .The following lines will demonstrate my life experience in living between two counties, my home country and my host one where I spend most of my life.

I got used to the Moroccan atmosphere quickly because there were a lot of simple activities I could do during one day and I could easily make new friends unlike Italy where you can play only with your close neighbors. After this holiday, I asked dad to take us every summer back to our home country because I enjoyed being with family members and I learnt some new things related to culture. After such a long time between moving from Italy and Morocco, I felt that my personality got richer and stronger because I started appreciating traditions; lifestyles and languages. It made me able to integrate smoothly in any new cultural context. I realized as well that every culture around the world had its uniqueness and beauty. Now whenever I am in morocco I miss something about Italy and vice versa. In addition, such experience enabled me to correct some stereotypes that people have about other countries. For example one day someone was saying that “the Italian cook only pizza and pasta and can’t cook other stuff” so I interfered gently saying that ‘’the Italian are famous for cooking them but they can cook other dishes that exist elsewhere “
