“Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.” Og Mandino, an American author, believed that determination was what helped people to succeed in life. Determination is not just important in the area of work, but also simple things like keeping a healthy diet, getting to school on time, or even spending time with God every day. The Cambridge dictionary defines determination as, “the ability to continue trying to do something, although it is very difficult.” Determination helps people to push through and complete their tasks when they are faced with a challenge as big as a mountain. Determined people do not afraid of failure. Determined people possess the character trait of diligence. No matter how old or young …show more content…
Firstly, failure does not mean that the person stupid, it just means that you need more time. I was required to take a national exam when I was 12. Being someone who viewed exams as a huge rock in the middle of the road, I had many concerns. To make matters worst, what I was being tested on was following the British system. However, I had been studying using the American system since young. I was very worried that I would mix the two up and that would result in failure of that exam. “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”. That was the quote that my friend told me when I told her of my situation. When you try, you have a 50% chance of scoring. Because I had faith in God, I cleared the exam, not with an excellent score, but with a decent score. A year later, I had another exam. This was the theory exam for music. Unlike my older brother, I could not do theory very well. Doing the practical component was fine, but I found it extremely difficult to remember all the different terms. Despite the fact that I was not good in theory, I went ahead with the exam. I trusted God and gave my best. By God’s grace, I am now teaching three students music theory. Failure is not only something that happens to the weak. Failure is a natural part of learning, it is the attitude after we fail that makes the difference. Will we rise up and try again, or will we always be afraid of
In life we tend to see failure as a terrible thing. When we do fail, most of the time we want to give up and see it as the end of the world. However there are few that see failure as an opportunity to do better and rethink the mistakes that were made in the past. Angela Duckworth, Emily Hanford, and CarolDweck all provide their research on how one can have highachievement e in life. Angela’s Duckworthresearch on grit proposes the idea that if someone stays persistence for a long time they can master something.
Persistence is the will to go on. A trait that is necessary to get through life’s obstacles. A person does not fight a lion by giving up, the person fights, with a will to succeed. Persistence is important. Living through life’s tough obstacles requires persistence.
This goes to show that since you didn't do something each day to prepare for the test, your results were low. To accomplish something does mean you have to put in extra work, it will not just come to you without always doing something to achieve it. Bill Gates is a very successful man, he started his business in his garage. He worked every day on creating the perfect computer, it didn't happen over night in fact it took him years till he got it right. Bill gates was always doing something to accomplish his goal, if he just sat around everyday not acting on his vision our world would have never even knew what a computer was.
Before the exam, I had been practicing almost every day. Even after all the practicing, I was still quite worried I would fail the exam. Despite my thoughts, everyone seemed to think I would do wonderfully. My parents thought I was
So I did it… The test was as hard as I thought it would be. But I had every book fresh in my mind, and I aced it.
This takes away from their teenage life and ruins one’s childhood. Also, during the test many students vomit or cry due to anxiety. In Sacramento, vomiting on tests is so common that explicit directions are written in the Stanford-9 exam on what to do if you vomit on the
The most difficult and challenging class that I have taken in college was Anatomy. At UIC, for pre-nursing students, a D in anatomy means an extra year of pre-requisites. After failing my first 2 exams, I gave up. I felt like my career in nursing was over. One day, after failing an exam, I went to see if I should drop the class.
Some students do not score good on these tests, they may be nervous and fail or they do not score high enough. These standardized testing systems are no understatement. I used The
Ultimately, it's important to strive towards achieving the things you desire. Success often comes to those who put in the effort and work toward their purpose. In
Failure is the not the end but it is a process of learning and getting success if you don’t giving up. I remember back in Nepal when my siblings and friends passed their classes but I did not. I felt gloomy because I was the only one who failed. I was crying but my dad did not want me to cry for what I could not do because he wanted me to move forward to achieve success.
This is where failure comes in. Sherry proclaims that we need to recognize that this fear of failure is a positive teaching tool. To make this tool work, teachers and parents need to accept that if the student doesn’t learn the material, they must follow through with their promises of flunking. Both teachers and parents have to realize that the future of the child is at stake, and only good intentions come from the
I am an Asian and I am not really good at math. My parents hired a math tutor to help me in school. When I first came to United States, I had to take a math assessment test for the community college that I was applying for. I was happy with the result that I got because it was not as bad as I was expecting it to be. However, my father’s friend asked me why I did not get a high score.
What made me more angered than anything was me having to tell all my friends the unsettling news. Knowing that I would have to call my friends for rides to places made me want to work even harder towards passing the exam. As a result, all I could think about was taking the test again and passing it so I wouldn’t have to deal with the dissatisfying emotions any
I had many experiences with failure in my life. One of the failures had changed everything in my life was the time that I failed on the SAT. I remember it was two years ago when I decided to come back to school. I didn’t graduate from high school in U.S, so I had to take a SAT if I want to go to college. I went to school to study English for one year and prepare for the test.
Have you ever wondered why some people succeed in areas where others experience failure and defeat? Take weight loss for instance, some people seem to have magical ability to shed pounds and pounds of fat while others battle with their weight for a long time. The difference between those who succeed and those who fail lies in their ability to be consistent in everything they do. Consistency is the ability to stay on track in pursuit for your goals.
