I struggled as I tried to solve some mathematical equations and problems, that seemed easy for others, and that is what got me frustrated. It didn’t only get me frustrated and disappointed, but it opened a door to my mind to rethink about my life, and in a negative way. My mind started pumping questions that doubted myself, doubted my abilities and strength and everything about me, I started asking questions like: what do I want to be? Will I ever get to be what I want? Will I ever succeed? What if I failed? Why don’t I have a passion about something useful, like chemistry or electrical engineering? My mind was about to blow, stayed up all night; don’t know why, but cried tears. I just realized what real life is, why are we meant to live, is it all about work and acquiring knowledge and achievement, and I really didn’t know if I could do it. I also realized that I haven’t been working in developing myself, all student work hard to reach their potential, improve themselves through summer schools, while I was wasting my summer browsing the internet and playing video
The fact that happiness is a state of well-being pursued by humans since the beginning of humanity is not new. Since the ancient Greek philosophers, happiness has always been a goal for people. However, the definition of happiness is still subjective and controversial as Mark Kingwell, an award-winning social critic, essayist, and professor of philosophy at the University of Toronto, presents in his article “In pursuit of Happiness." The author begins to build his credibility by calling everyday facts and emotions, also by citing philosophers, researchers, and other authors. Using the sources effectively in a persuasive piece, Kingwell demonstrates, through examples and science researches, the difficulty in defining happiness, which can result in unhappiness.
In Mark Kingwell’s excerpt, “In Pursuit of Happiness,” he discusses the challenge of defining happiness. This work serves to inform the audience on a topic they may never have considered while using evidence and support from philosophers, authors, and even scientists to contribute to various viewpoints on the subject. At the end of the excerpt, Kingwell discusses happiness, even unhappiness, and concludes with his own opinions on the subject. Since the beginning of human existence, people have tried to define happiness, but no one has described it sufficiently, which means the search continues.
I had never been more proud of myself knowing that I am so much stronger than I had ever thought. After that week I found a job, started exploring colleges, and made new friends for the upcoming year. That one day changed my perspective on what is ahead for me and who I can be. That is why I aspire to attend the University of Chapel Hill to prove to myself that I am not average, but, I am exceptional and deserve to be at an exceptional

The purpose of this essay is to pick apart Mill’s essay and to give my own personal opinion about happiness. Stuart believed that you could achieve happiness by helping others achieve happiness and by finding things that you enjoy in life. I believe the key to happiness is helping other people achieve their happiness, do things that you enjoy doing, and looking at things in the brightest way possible. I honestly believe that everyone wakes up in the morning wanting to be happy, I have never seen a person who wakes up saying, “ I want to have an absolutely miserable day today”. It is human nature to strive for happiness and do things that you enjoy to do.
What Happiness Is In the essay “What Happiness Is,” Eduardo Porter states that happiness is a slippery concept.
