As we loaded the bus and settled down, we began our twenty four hour bus ride to what is known as “The Happiest Place on Earth.” The person I sat by on the bus down to Florida was my best friend, Ailie. Her and I go way back, I believe we met in kindergarten. She had been to Disney World multiple times with her family, and as for I, I have never gone there. The farthest I have ever traveled before this trip was to Appleton, Wisconsin. I was beyond excited to finally go somewhere for spring break, especially to a whole new state and to a very beautiful place. I had the window seat on the bus, I mostly just stared out the window the whole time, because I wanted to take in the scenery of each town, city, and or state. I honestly could not believe how breathtaking each state was. My favorite was Kentucky, the reason being when we were traveling down there we got to Kentucky during the night time and we were passing through a city that had a conglomerate of buildings. The building were all lit up and for some reason I found it absolutely stunning. After I had my ten minute long stare out of the window, I went to sleep. My friend, Ailie, had her body …show more content…
I will never forget how much fun I had and how much my feet hurt. Being able to see how diverse it was at Disney, for example, there were people of different ethnicities and people who spoke a different language, and I find stuff like that absolutely fascinating. You can hear people speaking German, Italian, French, Spanish, and much more. I love being able to see people of all ethnicities in one place, if you asked me why, I couldn’t really give you an answer. Being exposed to these new experiences really helped me learn more about how diverse our country is. I love that we can have a place, here in the United States, where people of different ethnicities can feel welcomed. When I went to pack my stuff onto the bus, it was hard, but I knew the time I had at Disney, would forever be with
Hocking Hills It was a cloudy fall day, a cold feeling, and everything seemed calm. We were at hocking hills camping in cabins. The cabins were two stories with one room on the second story and two rooms on the first story. The cabin was built with brown wood with a tint of orange.
Celebrating holidays from both countries, each with their own special traditions, I was able to become more appreciative of where my roots lie. From the U.S. national anthem, to the beautiful folklorico dances of Mexico, I am fascinated with the blended culture I
The past I have encountered outside of a school setting was going to the African American Museum in Dallas, Texas. I have always wanted to go to an African American Museum to experience the setting of the atmosphere because my peers were talking about it so much I wanted to see what the hype was about. Inside the museum there are artistic, cultural and historical materials that are preserve and display of African American Culture. There is this one exhibit that catches my eyes and it is the African Amedia, this exhibit is and open letter that inspire people to look past the stereotypes that are related to each other base on character and not the race. Not every day you face any race conflict but being in a school setting is where it is majority are especially discrimination towards each other.
For my first diversity event I decided to attend the 43rd annual Mankato wacipi (Powwow). I chose this event because I attended some like it when I was younger. I always have admired Native Americans and their deep connection with their spirituality. I remember in fifth grade my elementary school hosted a Powwow that my mother and I attended. This was the first time I have ever been exposed to the Native American culture and the memory has stuck with me till now.
Many kids do not realize how life is out of the United States. I have experienced a completely new aspect of life outside of an American life into a third world country. Being able to stay there for half of the summer each year as taught me valuable characteristics. The culture experience I had in El Salvador has made me a humble individual, who has become more generous and a thankful person.
My First Time in Disney World Every child wants to go to the happiest place on earth, Disney World, and for my fifth birthday, I was one of the lucky children who was granted their wish. I remember my time in Disney like it was yesterday, yet it was day two of my trip that stood out the most. We rode the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. I thought the monorail must be what a rollercoaster feels like, even though we were going as slow as a snail.
For a long time, I knew nothing of the stories of a minority in America except what was taught in school, which was whitewashed. It did not help much with me wanting a better understanding of how black people got to where we are today. We would talk faintly about our history, maybe a week about slavery, another week on black history month, and then an entire school year about white America. Finding out that there is not absolute freedom for all, that opportunities are not given to everyone because of the way the American government was built upon, was a true eye opening experience for me. Being able to attend Telluride Association Sophomore Seminar (TASS) and be given the opportunity to gain insight about the people that actually built this country would be an actual honor.
They no longer gather close to my hometown anymore. I can only hope that one day in the future, my kids can have the one in a lifetime experience I got to have growing up. Out of all the fun and history I experienced out of learning my culture, it made me respect my history and ancestors more. It made me realize, you never know what may happen in life, take each moment for
Disneyworld is advertised as the happiest place on Earth. I’ve been to Disney World before when I actually lived in Florida. At four years old, I was tall enough to ride every single attraction. After eleven years, my highschool choir was given the opportunity to visit Disneyworld and Universal Studios. I signed up for the trip with my partner Reid and his best friend Lucky.
I'm Arad, I immigrated from Israel and I'm 12 years old today. I could feel air breezing through my hair, I could hear people chatting with tone, I could hear the speaker sing through my ears, America... Finally. Sitting in the plane seats were like sitting on the spiky rug mats, that part was the most horrible part. After those hours sitting and eating, the plane decided to sit down and chill in America.
H is For Hawaii The first time I’ve been to Hawaii was two years ago in the summer and another time last summer, both on my birthday. They were my birthday present from my parents. The trip wasn’t long, but it seemed longer as I wanted to arrive to badly. Almost everyone’s dream vacation is Hawaii, and I can now relate to that.
This was the day that I learned how my parents saw people of different ethnicities. It was the same belief that was taught to them by their parents. But it doesn’t have to be the belief I pass on to my children. I truly believe that we get our information about racial and cultural identity from our families and education.
“All dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them.”-Walt Disney My trip to Disney World was really enjoyable, one for the record books. We drove to Florida and spent 5 days there. When we arrived in Orlando, we went to our condo, at World Quest Resorts.
My Trip to Florida It was a cold winter night in Upstate New York. My mom and dad were enjoying a cup of coffee, my sisters were playing video games, and I was editing a few pictures on my computer. My mom brought up the idea of a vacation. She said” We haven’t been on a vacation for a long time”.
It was the seventh day and I saw my grandfather and dad talking my grandfather said the last word and they hugged I was so confused what was going on, but it stayed in the back of my mind the rest of the trip. On the tenth day we went to the Hollywood Studies. I rode a ride called the Tower of Terror it was one of the best rides I had been on in Disney it is a complete adrenalin rush. I also went on the great movie ride which is cool because you find out so much about old movies and I love it my sister didn’t like it.
