When you are younger, it is easier to learn new things because your brain is still developing. Therefore, you should teach yourself healthy habits. Acquiring a habit doesn’t need much, all you need is time. A simple habit would take approximately 14 days to obtain. However, a more complex habit can take months or years to obtain. If you have a pattern of healthy habits, you will feel better. As a teen, there are 5 essential habits you should get. The first essential habit you should get as a teen is eating a nutritious diet (eating healthy). Consuming healthy foods daily is difficult. A way to start developing a habit of eating healthy is knowing what foods are good for you. Foods from the food groups(grain, fruits and vegetables, dairy and alternatives and meat and alternatives) are healthy to consume. Many people skip breakfast because they don’t have time or because they don’t want to. Breakfast is actually the most important meal of the day because it fuels you up to start your day. Studies say that eating breakfast daily makes you better nourished and promotes weight maintenance. Comparing students who eat their breakfast regularly with students who skip breakfast often shows that the students who eat their breakfast tends to do better in school. However, eating breakfast daily doesn’t always mean that you are healthy. Consuming a donut with a can of root beer is not a healthy breakfast. If you would like to eat cereal for breakfast, try to avoid colorful cereals like Froot Loops because they contain a lot of sugar. Whole grain is the best option for a great breakfast cereal.
