I Am Me – Write Up
. I would like to start by saying the most important things in my life. The first thing is my mom and my sisters, the second thing is my friends, and the third thing even though I know you are cringing when you read this, is my boyfriend Ian. These three things have made me who I am. When I was little I used to look up so much at my dad, then I grew up and figured out my dad is one of the worst human beings I have ever seen. I remember my dad was like my superhero but I did not actually know my mom was my superhero and the victim of my dad’s insults and secrets. She protected me from him as much as she could, but my mom was not always at home, she had to work 8 hours and then go to the university at night. She got home at 11:30 pm most of the days, so all day I was alone with my dad and my sisters.

I am so proud of them. They are so intelligent, pretty, and funny. I love them. My big sister showed me unforgettable lessons I will always thank her for that even though we fight a lot. My twin sister, to be honest, is my favorite sister, I do not know if it is because we came together to this world, but the thing is she is my other half. Since we were born we have never been apart from each other for more than a week. She is the sweetest person you will ever meet, she is my best friend forever and ever I love her so much that I would give my life or her without even thinking it once.
She thought me how to become more sweet and nice and how to show my love to others, she thought me how to stand for myself and for other women, she thought me what equality means. She has opened my mind in ways I cannot even describe. Thanks to her I do not let boys treat me less because I am a girl. She helped me find myself. My friends come along with my sisters, they are like my sisters and have been helpful with all my problems. I am lucky because God gave me friends that I would not replace for anyone else in this
My sister Shermiah Burton has gone to two different schools the first one was SUSCC which she graduated, now she goes to Point University she currently enrolled there now. I look up to my sister in so many different ways she is hard-working and devoted in everything she does. She likes to help any and everyone. My mama, step father, and my oldest sister are a great impact in my life. I try and accomplish things just like her.
I accept the fact that being a twin does make me different and realize that society seems to always look at twins as one. Therefore, I have worked hard making sure people see me as a whole and not half a whole. One of the ways I thought I could accomplish this was for my sister and I to pledge different sororities. It was a scary concept.
Even though my sister has gone through the bad and the good times I will always believe in her, she is my hero and my guide on how to survive the bullies and the hardest bumps in the road that have hit our family like a truck. Even when her and I have our bad days she has always been my partner in crime, my one and only true best friend, no matter what she does I will always love her no matter what the situation
Over the course of the semester, my main goal was to become a more precise writer and develop my identity as a writer. According too, the Portfolio Letter assignment sheet, becoming a better writer consists of precise planning, draft and revising. It also includes understanding a variety of academic genres by examining the basic characteristics that defines each type. In order too efficiently meet my goal of becoming a better writer, it was very important to have my work evaluated by others and myself as well. The use of rhetorical knowledge, critical thinking, reading and writing all are the important aspects in this course.
There have been many people in my life who have impacted it both negatively and positively, but no one has had an impact in my life greater than my mom. This woman is just amazing in my eyes, right from the beginning because of the way she raised me, if I had children I would raise them the same way she raised me. The person she is, in general, has really had a great effect in my life, and also how she has always told me about the struggles shes had in her life from the ones I didn't see to the ones I have seen with my own eyes. I believe if I didn't know my mother as well as I do, she wouldn't have influenced me as much as she does. The way my mom raised me has made me the person I am today, so if I were to say she didn't impact my life I would be lying.
Self-identity is defined as the recognition of one's potential and qualities as an individual, especially in relation to social context. In other words, self-understanding. Finding self-identity is more more difficult for some people than others. In the autobiography Black, White, and Jewish: Autobiography of a Shifting Self by Rebecca Walker, the author reflects on her identity as a mixed raced individual which is illustrated through Walker’s reflections. People define themselves in many different ways.
My Identity Defined My Identity is a collaboration of the other people who have had an impact on me, as well as the experiences I have undergone and endured so far in my life.. My heritage and ethnicity influences me to an extent, but it does not necessarily define me. I consider my identity to be how I see myself and what strengths I posses. I have produced the identity I hold, and outside forces have only positively influence me and helped to better myself as a person.
and I used to play with my dad and these two were familiar faces to me in the initial stages and I developed a trust on them, The important thing I felt in this stage was feeding and my parent’s care. As we were in a joint family I always stayed with my parents and never allowed my uncle or aunt to lift me, when they tried to do so I used to switch on my alarm that is my cry, it forced my mom to run all the way from the kitchen to take care of me.
Self expression is a term many people use. The meaning of it is how you show your true self around people expressing thoughts, feelings, and ideas. Many of it can be seen through art, writing, music, and dance. People show themselves with many different expressions. It can be any type of art and even writing.
She never missed a single one of my school activities or athletic events. She made sure I made it to everything I needed to be at and that I arrived on time. It was important to my
Evolve into Having Self-Awareness Being self-aware simply means that you have a keen understanding of your own personality. That includes your positive and negative traits, your thoughts and beliefs, your feelings, and your inspiration. It would be easier for you to understand others when you are self-aware. You will also be able to tell how they see you in return. Most people believe that they have a good sense of self-awareness, but it would be best to check at a comparative scale to see where you fall on it in contrast with others.
She always does anything she can to ensure that I and everyone else in my family and her own friends are a safe and comfortable. She has also effected the way I have changed from the time I was a child to now. If she was not the person I know her to be then I guarentee that I would not be the same person I am today. When I was a child I did not care about the consistencies of things and now I understand that everything I do and change will end as something different.
Going through the passing of her father at such a young age, has build up strength in my mom. She had to grow up quickly and learn to have strength and take care of others. Her strength has helped me as I grow up and become an adult. My mom's generosity, cooking for those who have had someone close to them pass away and giving up an hour of her day to spend time with God have shown me alot. Her generosity has shown me how great of a person she is and has made me strive to become a better person.
I have always hated writing about myself, and I always dreaded assignments in school where I had to describe myself. I always wanted to avoid doing these assignments because I did not want to sound narcissistic, or self-absorbed. I dislike people like that now, because I used to be one of those people. It took many lessons learned before I humbled myself; I am still learning to humble myself today with recent experiences I have had. Although I hate to write about myself, I have always liked to reflect on myself.
The question posed in the title, “Who am I?” is very simple but the answers are never so. What defines me as who I am as a person today are relatively my attitude, my personal values and beliefs to life that developed throughout my life. “Values are constructs that we hold as important and beliefs are constructs that we hold to be true (Collins & Chippendale, 1995)”. Meanwhile, attitudes are relatively lasting clusters of emotions, beliefs, and behavior tendencies directed towards specific ideas, people or objects (Baron & Byrne, 1984). Generally, my family members, friends and the experiences I had contribute to my sense of who I am and how I view the world.
