Mademoiselle F, as she is known, was an eighteen year old girl who frequently visited her affluent and elderly aunt. One time when she was visiting she was gripped by the sudden fear that she had taken something from the house without her aunt’s permission. At first, she tried to not wear her apron so that she would not have pockets to stick things in, but soon she became afraid that she was putting possessions in her shoes, hair, and hands. Mademoiselle F began a vigorous ritual of shaking out her shoes, thoroughly combing her hair, undressing and redressing, shaking out her hands, and then forcing her chambermaid to check Mademoiselle for her, just to be safe. This vigorous process exhausted her, and she soon brought herself to French psychiatrist J.E.D. Esquirol, who wrote down her case for us to read today.

In 2022, Aviator Nation, a boho clothing brand based in California, was called out for committing cultural appropriation by the Native American owned brand, NSRGNTS. The founder of Aviator Nation, Paige Mycoskie, has been taking Native American clothing and selling colonized versions of them. One of the items that is most notable of this on their website is traditional beaded moccasins. As noted by NSRGNTS in a social media post, “They are being referred to as “hippie slippers”, “boho”, “eccentric”, along with all those other usual cringey terms. Traditional moccasins are very sacred, and not to be used as a fashion accessory on hipsters for exploitation.
Do you think that the bully policy for Hollister High School is effective? Many students agree it works well, while others, like myself, believe that it needs to be changed. One thing that is good about the bully policy is their description of “bullying” and what is considered bullying and also what is not. Another thing that needs to be changed is the inclusion of cyber bullying, I do not consider cyber bullying a form of “bullying” and believe that it is unnecessary to create an entirely separate paragraph addressing something that is not a real problem. Lastly, I feel that the system for reporting bullying is great, works well, and does not need any adjustment whatsoever.
