Do you think modern technology has made life easier and safer? Or do you believe that modern technology has made life more difficult and more dangerous? In recent years, technology has improved in many ways and is now probably better than ever before. Advancement in technology has made our lives a lot easier than the past. Some of the inventions that have really changed our lives are telephone, cellphone, internet, computer and television. Did you know that from 6.8 billion population on the planet, 5.1 billion of the people own a cell phone however, only 4.2 billion own a toothbrush? Everything that has some positive sides also has some negative effects and technology is of no exception. Technology may be very helpful but it can sometimes …show more content…
The positive effects have over taken the negative effects and they are usually ignored by the public. Spending a large amount of time looking at computer, cellphone and television screens can cause a huge damage to our eyes as computer emits a radiation that could harm the eyes of the browser if he/she was exposed to that radiation for a long time. Many Researches have shown that somewhere between 50% and 90% of people who work at a computer screen have some synonyms of eye problems. Moreover, computer and internet provides us with entertainment on just a click. As in result, people tend to sit in front of the computer to play games instead of going out and playing sports, which help them, keep a healthy body. According to a Canadian study conducted in 2003, which was published in the "International Journal of Obesity” claims that children from 7 to 11 years old, who overuse television and computer has significantly increased risk to being overweight or obese. The study has also shown that children who spent 3 or more hours a day in front of technology had between a 17% and 44% increase of risk of being overweight, or a 10% to 61% increase risk in obesity.
Conclusion
To sum up, it is not appropriate to say if modern technologies have more pros and cons. It has changed our lives and made them much easier than ever before. Many things such as communicating with people around the world
