During my time in high school, I felt Veterans Day as my favorite holiday since is the time for honoring people who served in the united State Armed Forces. Coming from a family with many past and present service members, I love to celebrate Veterans Day. Along the line as I got married to my beautiful wife Felicia, I had a change of mind in my choice of holiday. New Year’s Day then became my favorite holiday ever than all other occasions. Because, is a great occasion to make New Year resolutions, learning from family gatherings and having fun and passion. I go to church with my family to communicate …show more content…
During this day, it is full of fun because there are televised and parades in all over the country and many parts of the world. For example, in the streets of New York, there is parade and I make fun of it by taking pictures with my love ones. Also, during this day there are crowd shopping of people seeking for new clothes to begin the year with. Examples of shops that get crowded during this day to get new products for the year beginning are Ross, Target, JC Penney, Macys, and Old Navy. There is food and gift sharing to kids. For example, my friend’s wife gave birth on the first day of 2017 and received gift such as stroller, baby foods, blankets, toys, diapers and many more with the year logo in it from other people. Guess what! My wife and I took the opportunity to show our love to new born babies within our locality. We go to the nearby hospital and donate gift such as diapers and wipes to a New Year baby born. This is a way of showing our love to kids born on this
The book, Veterans Day by J.J. Jorgens emphasizes the plight of neglected veterans in the United States of America. It presents a story about Mary Jane Morris, a female private detective. One Halloween night, she received an urgent voice message from her ex-partner, Davy, and she rushed to his office only to find him dead. Altogether, it looked like Davy committed suicide, but Mary Jane's instinct told her that there was more to her ex-partner's death. She felt Davy intentionally called her so that she could be the first person to discover his body; he wanted her to obtain clues about his killer.
One of these holidays is the New Year, called Oshogatsu the most important holiday in Japan. As stated in the book, “ ...the most important holiday in Japan and one that brings the whole culture to a three-day halt” (Pg 130). Cathy also states ,” … for three days virtually all shops and buildings are closed” (Pg 130). This statement shows the holiday and the traditional ways that go into the holiday. It also shows how this holiday brings everyone together to celebrate together.
We celebrate Veterans Day every year on November 11th to honor the men and women who served and is still serving our wonderful country. We shouldn’t honor a veteran just once a year but everyday because they are protecting us everyday. When we say the pledge in the mornings we should be thinking about our veterans and what they did for us. Many veterans we get to still celebrate with and some were not so lucky and didn’t make it back home to their loved ones.
Hood was exciting. I was able to spend it with family; eating whatever meal came with that holiday. If it was Christmas, I would be playing in the snow with my kids. Having a snowball fight. Being free to do whatever came to mine.
Thank you for putting your life out there for us. Thank you for protecting people's families. And thank you for putting this country first. Veterans day is for people like you to be thanked for all you guys did for this country. But people like you deserve more.
Understanding Veterans More than 50,000 americans died in Vietnam (Vietnam War U.S. Military Fatal Casualty Statistics), but what for? In the 1950s and 1960s, the United States was involved in the Vietnam War. The country had split into North and South Vietnam where the North favored communism and the south democracy. The United States entered the war in hopes of protecting the democracy that South Vietnam was trying to create. In understanding the experiences of veterans it is important to follow the training the soldiers went through, the diseases they became at risk of, and how people treated them when they returned home.
Do you have a veteran in your family and live in Kentucky? If you do then you must be bamboozled when Veteran's Day rolls around and you don't get to spend the day with them and thank them for their services to this great nation and preserving our freedom. Less than 1% of Kentucky's schools are on a delay or canceled. You may ask "But this is Veteran's Day one of the most important days to our nation!?! Should schools really be on regular schedule?"
Understanding Veterans’ Lives Have you ever really thought about the lives of veterans after a war? Mike Clark is a veteran who served in the Vietnam war. He was chosen as a combat medic because he didn’t perform well mechanically. Mike went through boot camp and was later trained to be a medic for about ten weeks. The Vietnam war itself wasn’t as bloody compared to other wars, but the percent that died is similar.
“... O say does that star spangled banner yet wave, o’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.” Nearly every American can recite the final lines of our National Anthem. However, few take the time to truly contemplate the meaning of these words. When I hear these phrases, I think of the principles on which our country was founded: the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. But perhaps more important than these rights are the defenders of them: our veterans.
When citizens of the United States stare up at their national flag - the 13 stripes and the 50 stars that represent the freedom their ancestors fought tooth and nail for - they probably fail to remember the lessons they were taught in school about the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and the world wars. In these wars, men fought for their country’s freedom, tossing their own life behind them. Should the country that is being protected by brave men and women ignore their efforts and their struggles? No, and if they were to, they would have to hold no pride for their country, and even less for the struggles of their ancestors. One way America honors veterans is Veteran’s Day.
New Years Day is the day of despair to respect women and men of famous tragedies. In addition, is the time to reflect of how humanity evolves and still in function. It was not ever about overdosing on liquor, or purchasing a thousand dollar dress that we would ever wear again. While we are at it, we created the "New Year's kiss" to spam on Instagram of how "lit" we have gotten. To build more shame, Elie Wiesel uses word choice by adding, " We would have to invent a new vocabulary, for our own words were inadequate, anemic.

From the moment I was born I was considered a military brat, I was born in Hawaii at tripler hospital because my mom was in the army and stationed there, my biological father was in the marines. When my mom remarried when I was 7, she married a man who was in the Navy. Everyone thinks being a Military brat just means you know more than other people because you 've been more places and seen more things and you get a lot of stuff you want. This is not true at all. Coming from a military background means you never have stability, you are held to a higher standard than all the other kids, and sometimes it makes you want to be in the military and only focus on that.
