I knew that furthering my education would mean a lot to them, not only because they didn’t get the chance to do so, but because that was the main reason to why they had moved to the U.S. Another reason to why I decided to go on this adventure to college, is because I have younger siblings who look up to me, I always tell them to focus, work hard, and to keep their eyes on the prize. They dream of a healthy future, it would be a slap for them if I
I couldn’t agree with him more, no one can become successful all by themselves. Just as Bill Gates, and The Beatles took their opportunities and seized them, I am doing the same to become successful. One day I will be a successful teacher, and I will make an impact on my students’ lives. I work hard at everything I do so I can be proud of my achievements. Gladwell proves that success comes from working extremely hard at opportunities, in order to be an outlier and succeed.
Atticus, despite his different personality, was an amazing dad and he would always tell us to do what we think is right. Atticus had many tasks to fulfill in his life. He had to care for his kids and defend those in need.
Wina was able to have a better chance of applying for more companies because a business major is more abroad. Not only did it bring economic benefits, but it helped in a way that she could become more confident since she persevered and achieved her dream of earning a degree. Also, she learned a lot of college lessons during those years and is able to practice it in real life, In the end, interviewing my mom, Wina Bailey, helped me understand and learn from her mistakes and how college is a huge benefit of being successful in life. The last message my mom presented to me is to go to college right after high school, get it done right away, and take advantage of opportunities whether it’s tutoring or being able to retake a test, Nonetheless, “ Time management is the utmost, once you get that down you won’t be overwhelmed” this allows any college student to be prioritized and have a “better flow” when it comes to school or college work.
Parents play a big role in their child’s lives because they provide a sense of direction for them. It is natural for a child to look up to his/her mom or dad. If a young adult doesn’t have the help from their parents who have already experienced college then they are already behind the kids who are able to use their parents as a resource. A quote by Nijay Williams in the article says, “My mom stopped school in the ninth grade; my dad stopped in the fourth grade … It makes it harder for me, [and] most of the people I graduated with are not in college, but that’s what I see myself doing; I want to go to college.
Their education went as far as middle school, until they had to quit and help my grandparents work. With little education they have, they offered to help me in my school work when I would struggle. As I entered high school I learned that paying for college would have to be on me, because I did not want my parents to pay when I am capable of working and paying on my own, so I dedicated myself to my classes and graduated with a great GPA. Senior year I knew I would be attending Chemeketa, I had taken college classes throughout my high school education and I loved all the teachers.
I believe I should be selected for the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Scholarship because I am not the typical high school senior. When it comes to my education, I go about and beyond expectations. My desire to do my best in school shows consistently year after year. I put in equal amount of effort when it comes to my after school activities and community involvement. I was told at a young age that education was the key to success and from that point on I made it my main priority not to be the average student among those that settle for less but to be a outstanding student that rises to every occasion to take advantage of my education.
Support: Eric Thomas, the author of the book ‘The Secret to Success’, once said about success that whatever paths taking us to success, at some point we all have to go through the boulevard of hard work. Example: If you want to achieve success, hard work and dedication are the second element after explicit plans. In addition, we had better take responsibility for our tasks. None can help us to fulfil our targets but ourselves, hence learning to bear responsibility is very essential.
Colin Powell’s story is one that never stops, it keeps going . Growing up as an immigrant life wasn’t easy Colin. Powell understood that a successful life wasn’t handed to him. His story is one to admire, as well as his bravery and honor . He is a role model that shows everyone “Man, I can be at the top too.”
And when things get harder or easier for me in life the things that he taught me I will always remember and never forget them this gave me a huge understanding of the people that just wanna become better, and those who dont wanna get better and achieve nothing. This goes from my intro from In These Girls, Hope is a Muscle. This shows how the captain of the team was pushing the team, and my personal mentor would be my coach on the way he pushed my team to finally win a state championship from the last state title being over 30 years ago
From a young age I seemed to be under the impression that college was the only path for everyone. When I got to high school the tables were really turned and there were many options laid out on the table for me. But I had always wanted to go to college and by the tenth grade I knew I wanted to go into the business field. My mother and father both work very hard for all the money our family needs. My father is a postman and my mother works as a secretary at my high school.
Being the first one in my family to graduate was a big pressure for me as well as a motivation. I had the pressure to make my family proud and to set a good example for my children to follow. Thinking about it, the pressure was not only that, but it was also learning to juggle my full time job, with family and school. That was definitely the challenging pressure I was putting on myself. Their support slowly turned into pressure because they were all going out of there ways to help me achieve my goals, so the pressure of graduating and achieving my goals was 100% more.
Ever since she was young, Blue’s dad pushed her to be the best student she can be. His goal for her is to attend Harvard University and has made it her goal as well. When Blue was young, her dad bought her a desk specifically for writing her college application. Her dad describes the desk as “the perfect surface on which to draft an admissions essay to make any Harvard graybeard shiver in his dress slacks.” (Pessl 52) Because he has set a big goal for her, Blue learns how to work hard in school and stay focused on her long term goal instead of getting caught up in high school drama.
He never gave up and always had the ethic to work hard in education. That helped him to be an amazing president. Thomas Jefferson was a very strong man and an even stronger president. He did everything he needed to do to succeed
She got me the help I needed and gave me the strength to pick up the broken pieces in order to put it back together. I’ve learned that “it takes getting everything you ever wanted, and then losing it to know what true freedom is.” Said by the wise artist, Lana Del Rey. I loss the one thing I ever wanted, success but soon came to realize that God has bigger plans. Entering my senior year of high school.
