My greatest strength would be that I perform well under pressure and that I enjoy teamwork. I have had many opportunities where I have had to perform at my best even with a great deal of pressure on me. For instance, I was in the Kennesaw State Math Bowl two years in a row, we practiced every day for months after school, I felt prepared, however, when it came time for the competition I was very nervous! I remember learning to take a moment and take deep breaths to calm my nerves, after that I was ready to do my best, we won both years! I also feel that being in Band playing the trumpet has taught me how to perform well under pressure and how to work well in teams, we recently had a Large Group Performance Evaluation and competition where we had to learn a new piece of music in ten minutes and then perform it in front of an audience, our group was told that we were one of the best performers and our evaluation coach felt the trumpet section did perfect.
(Bethel University, 2014) suggests to me that my strengths are reading, determination, creative problem solving, understanding technology and ability to focus on one thing at a time. My strengths tell me that I am able to figure out problems and do not like to fail. My strengths have benefited me in my life because I am logical and can come up with solutions to problems. I never give up and when I want something fixed or done, I make sure to do it right and get it done.
I am a good listener, an effective negotiator, and a fast and effective problem solver. I enjoy interacting with customers to promote products and services to customers, answer customer questions, and resolve product and service related problems.
Self-assessments help individuals understand and focus on their best qualities that are unique to them but also show awareness of the areas that are possible opportunities for growth. Self-assessments can be broken down and categorized with many options for results. When completing the self-assessment I discovered that my three areas of strength were demonstrating a willingness to understand the perspectives of others through verbal and non-verbal communication. Second, identifying and working towards personal goals. Lastly, demonstrating awareness of behavior and adjusting accordingly in response to changing situations. However, my three areas of improvement were writing communication that is organized and accurate reflecting appropriate terminology. Also, actively seeking feedback that is responsive, and modifies behavior according from others regarding performance. Third, managing my time effectively.
As I review the Conley Readiness assessment I notice I have two “stronger” areas and two “weaknesses”. My strongest point happens to be in the thinking category. My strong point in the thinking category is said to be communication. I like to think i communicate well with people around me, whether I'm at work, at school, or just anywhere I tend to go in my free time. I also know where to go when I need information on a paper. My strengths make me a better student because in my everyday school life I need to know and understand how to think critically. We need common sense and to be able to get the help we wish to gain through communication, and thinking logically.
My top five strengths are adaptability, relator, maximizer, empathetic and strategic. It was not surprising to confirm my top five strengths because, in my work and social interactions, I find that I love relating with others and yearn to understand their situations and take them in that light. However, I am also a practical person who likes planning and looking at an issue from all perspectives. I, therefore, believe that I strike a balance as I am not rigid, neither am I too spontaneous, but most of all I try as much as possible to deal with a situation on its merit to maximize on positive outcomes.
The explanation provided assisted me with understanding why I each strength was identified. For example, I was uncertain about my result restorative, by going into greater detail on this result, I was able to understand the concept better. After reviewing “Your Personalized Strengths Insight” (Gallup, n.d.,) section, I do believe restorative can be a personal strength for me. My personal results explained the reason I received the theme restorative for my strength stating, “You are motivated when your results are compared to those of others. This is one reason you routinely incorporate self-improvement activities into your life. It’s very likely that you usually pay more attention to your shortcomings than your strong points. You customarily devote yourself to overcoming your limitations.” (Gallup, n.d., p. 5). This statement is very true; I am a very motivated individual, and I am always trying to better myself. I am a person that does not focus on my strengths, but on my weaknesses that I need to improve. Overall, I feel this assessment was accurate, and I was not surprised by the strengths
Leaders possess different strengths that allow them to succeed in their career or life. The Clifton Strengths Finder Assessment helped identify my top strengths and how to lead with my strengths in order to further develop them. My top five strengths were competition, positivity, winning others over (WOO), harmony, and achiever. Based on the meaning of each strength, I related to all them, however, I was surprised by some of them.
As students the people who we surround ourselves with have a profound effect with our motivational level. Our surroundings can emotionally impact our life for the better or worse. By reading the article “Brainology” by Carol Dweck has also showed me the mindset I have and reflect on the way I view education. like most Parents, my Parents want to see me succeed in school since they did not have the chance to do so themselves. Like everyone, I have weaknesses thats make me fall but, I also have strengths that help me get right back up. Spending nearly third-teen years in education not counting four plus years that will be spent in college, motivation is what will be need to get us threw the failures and help achieve our goals.
I am Donique Byfield and I am a sixteen year old girl in 11th grade who likes to draw. There are numerous amounts of things I would like to accomplish in school this year. Similar to everyone else there are skills that I excel at and skills that need to be further developed, however, one thing that makes me unique is that I work hard to achieve goals that I set.
I’m glad that you broke down on what sympathy and empathy are, there are a lot of people who get these two mixed up. But as humans we will always have sympathy for others, but for most of us we will never know how to empathize with others. Having both of them are great to have in the Human Service field but we cannot let it consume us, we were called upon to help them in the best we can for them. But you make great points in the scriptures that you use, every day I wake up and tell myself to become more like God. In the Human Services field we are there to improve the situations of others, and to be able to help them when they cannot help themselves anymore. Having a positive characteristic for others with making a differences in people’s lives.
According to my strength finder survey, some of my strengths is being competitive, an achiever and a maximizer. Some weaknesses was paying attention for a long period of time, getting stressed easily and reading. There have been both internal and external factors challenging my success here at Georgia Southern. Internal factors have definitely challenged my success here so far. The amount of stress just makes you want to stop working and never go back. All that stress also causes you to be tired all the time. There has not been a day so far where I haven’t fallen asleep in class for a minute. Another internal factor would be the choices you get to make. Your parents are not here to tell you what to do anymore. There is always something going on here at Georgia Southern so you either have the choice to go out to get your school work done. External factors also challenged my college success. The heat and humidity here are outrageous. When walking to class my energy would be drained from the heat and I would not feel like learning. My
For this assignment, we, the students, has to complete a 240 question survey of character strength, which should identify your top five strengths. By using this survey, I know how to use my strengths to benefit myself in the future.
Through self-reflection and academic readings, I have discovered that I identify with three different leadership theories. During the first meeting in a Strength Based Leadership class, we were asked to write our leadership history. The class then began an ongoing exploration of various leadership theories. Upon reviewing my leadership history from the first class and synthesizing the information from the theories that were examined, I discovered that I most resonate with the Trait Leadership Theory, the Skills Leadership Theory, and the Path-Goal Leadership theory. These theories are leader focused, describing the process and techniques a leader uses to accomplish goals. This paper will examine the three leadership theories, identify how they apply to my practice, and explore how these theories interact with each other.
As a student one of my strengths is organization. I can say I can keep my school materials and notebooks organized in a way that I and others can comprehend. The reason I can say I am organized is because, I have hardly ever had in the past or present any issues with trying to find homework or assignments because I always kept my materials for each class organized and in a place I could easily find. Another strength I have is social skills. I can believe that I communicate with others well in a group. The reason for this is that I can explain topics in a group if someone does not understand, I can say that this skill came with confidence to speak up and trust myself.
