All around the world today more than 3 billion people, which is nearly half of the earth's population live on less than 2$ and 50 cents a day. in each day 22 thousand children dies due to poverty related issues according to the UNICEF. today I will be informing you about the topic of poverty around the world.
After spending some of this past summer in Africa and witnessing poverty ......... this topic has developed to be a huge part in my life. From witnessing poverty ,,,,,,,,, and from building relationships with people who deal with poverty related issues every day, I have learned a lot about this topic and want to inform our class about this major issue.

Some of these issues include hunger, which is one of the leading causes of death in the world today, killing more than HIV AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined. The World Food Problem says the poor are hungry and their hunger traps them in poverty. Another issue is thirst, which many people in the world are dying from; from not having access to clean drinking water. Health issues such as certain diseases and chronic illnesses such as chronic malnutrition which is a major issue going on in the lives of many children that live in poverty today. Another issue is depression, which many people living in poverty face and can lead to suicide from being so upset about life. A question is asked: Who becomes affected? Many organizations and people in the world today have developed sustainable projects as well as offering to help many poverty related issues that are going on. Organizations such as Growth International Volunteer Excursions, which I went to Africa with, UNICEF, and The Hunger Project are volunteer abroad organizations that help out remote areas that are in need. These organizations perform sustainability projects such as projects using recycled items, building schools, implementing fresh water systems, educational projects that help the people living in poverty to learn English. Also, after these projects are done, these organizations continue funding incomplete projects.
In conclusion there are many projects implemented in the world today to help developing communities with poverty related issues. The book The American Way of Poverty: How the Other Half Still Lives enhanced my understanding by reading on Abramsky explore poverty in the United States over a fifty year period. His detailed perspective on how poverty, social attitudes, and public policy have changed over the years. It was also helpful that Abramsky studied all over the United States and didn’t only research a few states. Today, as we find ourselves in the twenty first century, our problem with poverty still exists and appears to be getting worse. Cities are continuing to grow to max capacities, hunger rings clear throughout the world, natural resources are depleted everyday due to over use, causing a degradation of our environment and billions of individuals do not claim Yahweh as their God. These are the occurrences on this planet on an everyday day cycle. There appears to be more focus on selfishness and the everyday rather than living in community with others. Plain and simple, poverty is serious and we must get to the root of it.

Poverty still occurs across the modern world which we live in nowadays. While the majority of people would relate the word poverty with less developed countries the truth is that poverty is to be found everywhere you look. Yet the term, poverty, is brought up to discussion. Because would you consider yourself poor even though you didn’t know the better scenario existed? And isn’t it sometimes enough just to have a bed to sleep in, food to eat and people around who love you?
