Introduction
Society is really hypocrites. They wanted us to be to ourselves but when we did, they will judge us. ~ That Promdi Girl (Watt pad)
Promdi is a Filipino slang word derived from the English phrase “from the” which is the short term for “from the province”. It is also a Filipino modern word for a person who grew up in the province or rural areas then goes to the city. Some people use the word “promdi” as an insult or joke to a person who cannot fit in their standards. Because they define promdi as being off-fashion, bisaya and/or jerk person. (Claudzzz, 2017)
The researchers noticed that there are different factors in their study. Promdis were judged by many people in urban places with these factors: fashion style, technologies, and language accents. The first factor is the fashion style. Promdis are stereotyped as wearing unfashionable clothes. Because in many provinces, they have no idea what are the latest trends in other countries that were being adopted by the urban people. The second factor is the technologies. The first and second factors are interconnected. The trending fashion styles are all on the internet so essentially, it helps the urban places more aware than the rural places on what are the latest
