Nice to meet you. It is a great pleasure to be here and worship God with all of you together. We came from a country called South Korea which is on the other side of the globe. Is it not surprising that God has brought us together in his name to let us praise him. The weather may be too hot for worshiping God. Compared to Africa, however, the weather these days in Korea is too cold for worshiping God. So, let’s worship God and give thanks to him regardless of how the weather is. Also, let’s praise our Lord regardless of how much we earn or how much we have. Let’s worship God regardless of our feelings. Because today is the day we give thanks to God for his love and grace. Today is the perfect day to worship God.

It might be frightening to take up one’s cross and follow Jesus. However, Jesus said “those who lose their life for my sake, and for the sake of the gospel, will save it.” That is the way a disciple of Jesus lives.
The good news that we believe is not just about losing one’s life. The good news that we believe is about winning a new life in Jesus Christ. We are not destined to fear death, but to rejoice our redemption through Jesus Christ. We should note the fact that the Early Church had not only faced the fear of death because of Jesus, but also had a firm belief in resurrection in Jesus Christ.
My dear brothers and sisters, do not fear, for God is with you. Do not be afraid, for God will help you. He will uphold you with his victorious right hand. So, let’s think about how a real follower of Jesus Christ lives. Paul summarized in Romans chapter 12 what the way of a real Christian are. He said: “Love one another with mutual affection. Rejoice in hope and be patient in suffering. Bless those who persecute you and do not curse them. Live in harmony and peaceably with all. Feed your enemy and do not repay anyone evil for evil. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” This is the way a disciple of Jesus
And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice
His use of the quote from (Matthew 22:36-40) help him accuse the humanity others hold, and how they could allow their ‘neighbor’ to go through such emotional pains and
This quote was so powerful. Father Greg looks up to Jesus especially in times like these. He makes the connection that when Jesus says to love your enemies, it doesn’t mean you have to cease loving those who love us. Just because it is harder, doesn’t mean it is better, it is just harder. When we are able to love our enemies we will start to truly live in a world who God is.
Multiple times he is thankful for the simplest things that life has to offer such as to “arise in the morning”, and the “joy of living”. He emphasizes the aspect of cherishing everything that life has given even if they are ordinary and do not impact us. This connects to me as it conveys the message that one’s life has been granted many privileges, whether tangible or intangible, and one should treasure them deeply before their presences are gone. As it will then be too late and we will regret not truly valuing them.
Furthermore, “Loving Your Enemies” is something that is immensely complex, however extremely possible and essential for humankind to exist harmoniously in this corrupt society. As he said in this “We will be able to matriculate into the university of eternal life because, we have the power to love our enemies,to bless those persons that cursed us, to even decide to be good, to those persons who hated us,and we even prayed for those persons who despitefully used
At the bottom of all our phobias and neurosis lies a fear of death. This is so, probably because of the uncertainty surrounding death. Such things as: whether the experience will be painful or dehumanizing in some way? Whether there will be extension of life after death; whether death is the end. Even not being able to see the beloved once again in this earthly existence is enough puzzlement.
Book of REVELATION, is the last book of the Bible. The word ‘Revelation’ is derived from the Greek word ‘apokalupsis’ which means “a disclosure, or unveiling, and this book unveils Christ and the mystery of His return to earth as the Judge. This revelation was given to the apostle John while he was in Roman-imposed exile on the Island of Patmos in the eastern Mediterranean around 95 A.D. The book of Revelation has 22 chapters and the events are arranged in chronological order.
In Matthew chapter sixteen verse twenty-four, Jesus says, “If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.” Taking up your cross is an action that must occur minute by minute. You must choose either to sit idly and to just avoid evil or to make a conscious decision to follow and chase after Christ and His ways. Another example in Scripture is Ephesians six verses ten through thirteen. It says, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and His mighty power.
In her book “ A perfect Mess”, she shines light on how the bible connects to modern life. She goes about telling her experiences that exemplify how in “not so great” moments, God sees his child in need of his perfect love. In the article “ How Should I Live Life as a Christian Teen?” written by Catiana Nak Kheiyn, she discusses how even though we face hardships, God is on our side guiding us through it all. The article and the book both mention how we can get caught up in the false perceptions of Christianity. As a Christian, a man made list of do’s and dont’s does not exist.
Lord Teach Me to Pray #6 Kingdom-Focused Prayer Text-Micah 4:1-5 Introduction-: In Philip Yancey’s book The Jesus I Never Knew he talks about how we live on Saturday, the day with no name: The other two days have earned names on the church calendar: Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Yet in a real sense we live on Saturday, the day with no name. What the disciples experienced in small scale—three days in grief over one man who had died on a cross—we now live through on cosmic scale.
The traditional and sacred reasoning of celebrating Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ, is starting to be taken over by a more profane view of exchanging presents. The sacred nature of Australian Society is acknowledged in the source through the image of Mary and Joseph kneeling by a manger which reflects the story of The Birth of Jesus in the bible. However, Profane nature is also demonstrated through the message, baby Jesus missing from the manger, which suggests that the Australian socio-culture is celebrating Christmas in a profane manner. As many people in our society do not believe in the Religious aspects of life, or do not practise a religion whether it be Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Taoism and Buddhism, 16.6% of Australians belong to “No Religion” according to a survey conducted by the ABS, in 1996. From many profane celebrations taking place to celebrate the sacred events such as Easter and Christmas, the loss of morals such as loving one another,
Jeff Bridges takes the lofty goal of perfect holiness and shows how every Christian is called to live out their lives; holiness is achieved by pursuing God in every aspect of our lives, following the way of Christ and not the ways of the world, and obeying the Lord in everything we do. He emphasizes the idea that holiness is not an end result but rather a lifetime challenge. This book follows the teachings of many pastors and authors I have personally encountered and I found it very settling to know that the information I have heard for many years is still applicable and holds its truth. One very important point Bridges makes throughout this small book is how sin separates us from God and it is our duty to release this sin and work towards
Intolerance leads to various kinds of violence, and it divides men. His works constantly mention God and the acceptable beliefs, behavior, and morals in His eyes. He states: “Effect your own salvation. Pray for mine and believe that anything you permit yourself beyond this is an abominable injustice in the eyes of God and man” (Intolerance, n.pag.). This means that whatever any person is entitled to his salvation, but he must pray for his neighbor to be redeemed as well.
Various religions across the world employ several different concepts that non-believers often find very strange or difficult to grasp. There is however a concept that is universally understood and somewhat accepted by the vast majority of our contemporary society. This is of course the concept of an afterlife. The afterlife can be defined as a sort of state of being where the consciousness of an individual persists even after the physical death of the body. This concept plays a central role in nearly all religions that employ it and is sometimes dependent on the existence of a God.
