Dear Luxurious Kappa Kappa Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, I am Amaya Sharrieff. I am twenty years of age. Born and raised in Raleigh, NC, I am currently a sophomore at The University of North Carolina At Charlotte and a Pre-Kinesiology major pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree. My future goal is to obtain my doctoral degree and, one day, open a professional private practice that provides affordable treatments to all mankind, particularly girls and women. Since arriving at UNC-Charlotte, I have been intrigued by your organization’s scholastics, sisterhood, and service. I, too, take part in various outreach programs to give back to the community. I have had the opportunity to serve with the American Breast Cancer Society, Jamil Niner Food Pantry, The Disability Office, serve as a Mentor for Ekidz at Elevation Church, and many other community efforts. I am interested in becoming a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority …show more content…
I am passionate about serving others and doing my part by providing beneficial services to reflect equality and equity through all aspects of mankind. Through my involvement in various informational meetings, I have watched how the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, particularly Kappa Kappa Chapter, exemplify what true role models should represent. From a young age, family has always been so dear to my heart. Family means being present and having each other’s back. If chosen, I will ensure I support fellow members of the organization through all measures. If one fails, we all fail. Entering this sisterhood would not only allow me to grow through upstanding womanhood but, I too can be a
Becoming a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. has been an unchanging aspirtaion of mine. From a young age I was presented with Delta women who are an exstordonary representation of what is means to wear the letters. These women have been my role models, mentors, and also my spiritual, and emotional guides. I am intrested in becoming a member of this soroity because I yearn to be surrounded by motivated, intellegent, and dedicated women. The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, as well as its members, possess attributes which I consider to be pivital in the development of a sense of self and community.
I have been very committed to community service through three service organizations at my high school and I was quite eager when I discovered that Kappa Delta Rho is an organization committed to service without recognition. Through delivering food for Food Fighters and the cleaning of the Noland Trail amongst my pledge brothers, I have been introduced to Kappa Delta Rho’s vision of service to which I will be committed to upholding in my membership within the
I can contribute my knowledge of social justice and ability to be a community servant to this organization. My long-term life goal is to become a hospital owner in multiple underrepresented areas and foreign countries. Being a community servant, one can build character while helping open doors or provide opportunities for those who are less fortunate. I’ve read the many articles of the large groups of Alpha men graduating from Meharry Medical College, that have had such a huge impact on the surrounding communities by giving a helping hand when needed. It’s the small things that count and makes me eager to join the previous groups of male leaders striving to achieve their goals, which defy all odds against
I am writing this letter to express my interest in your illustrious organization, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I am currently a senior majoring in Criminal Justice, minoring in African American Studies with aspirations of becoming a Social Justice Attorney. Born in the inner city of New York and being raised in the suburbs of Atlanta, I am not your typical Southern Belle or City girl. I like to think of myself as being a fine mix of the two. At a young age my mother groomed me into what she believed a well-rounded lady should be.
Any philanthropic service that one can do, not just through a sorority, significantly benefits someone’s personal and communal life. Being in a sorority, however, gives someone even more opportunities to give back to the community and be able to do it consistently. Although most sororities and fraternities require their members to participate in community service, almost all members continue doing this philanthropic work and benefit from it in many ways. These certain benefits could be connecting with one’s community, growing social skills through communicating with members of the community and getting a different aspect of one’s community that could have them react positively to change it. In research on how philanthropy events affect members of a sorority or fraternity, Long says, “The researchers found that service involvement was positively associated with fraternity/sorority membership, being female, and academic performance” (Long, 18).
Though others might not realize it, philanthropic events play a key role in sorority life” (Leavitt). Philanthropic events help in covering the costs and putting all the weight on the shoulders of the members of the sororities. As the media has a big influence on these
but I also believe Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has so much more to offer myself and the world. Who wouldn’t want to be apart of a sisterhood that engages in Educational Development, Economic Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement? The world we live in today needs strong educated black women to leave their mark and uplift the lives of others. The key to success for me is to put what I believe into practice. Think phenomenal things and then work hard to put them into action.
I also believe that my time as a student ambassador on the LSUA campus and as a nursing student in clinical has allow me to gain the experience that I need in the leadership role. These are all qualities that I hope to bring with me if I am granted membership.
As of today, I feel that my most significant contribution to Auburn has been the privilege of serving as the president of Kappa Delta Pi. Kappa Delta Pi is an honor society for education and kinesiology majors. As president, I am able to provide members with resources and guidance in their field of study. Additionally, myself and the other officers encourage members to get involved with volunteer work in the community while striving to be actively involved in volunteer work, as well. Before serving as this years president of Kappa Delta Pi, I served as the communications chair. During my time as communications chair, I learned the importance of giving back to the Auburn community.
Becoming an Alpha is a life time goal of mine. I would like to become an Alpha because of encounters with other Alpha men, the correlation of Alpha Phi Alpha’s Nationals Projects and My lifetime goals and its Fraternal Brotherhood. “Kids have a hole in their soul in the shape of their dad. And if a father is unwilling or unable to fill that hole, it can leave a wound that is not easily healed.” Roland Warren.
Every week I spend time at the Morristown Medical Center as a volunteer, where I am able to help keep things functioning in the hospital at the highest speed possible and hopefully brighten a few patients’ days. Also, I’ve enjoyed helping refereeing youth basketball games for the past two seasons and being able to talk with the kids. It is a great opportunity to give back to a program which gave me so much in the five years I played in it when I was younger. Furthermore, I am excited for even more opportunities to have an impact on my community which being a part of National Honor Society would aid in.
To the women of the grad chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated: The purpose of this letter is to inform you of my interest in becoming a member of the grad chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated. My desire to inspire young men and women and make a significant impact on their lives is just one of many reasons I aspire to join your great sorority. While growing up at a young age my mom worked out of my sibling lives. I did not have many positive female role models I could look to for guidance in different situations.
The Parent Winter Formal was an opportunity to show our families what it means to us to be an Alpha Phi, and also gave them a sense of connectivity and membership to the
I strongly believe that becoming a physician mean a moral duty to help people who are less fortunate. As an undergraduate, my goal is to gain as much experience as possible in a clinical environment to prepare myself for the real world. Describe what makes you a good candidate for Phi Delta Epsilon- MA Alpha Chapter. * I hope my genuine interest in personal development and desire to uphold humanitarianism can be seen throughout this application
In addition, being an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and holding a multitude of leadership roles, has placed me
