1.1 Explain how individuals can benefit from being as independent as possible in the tasks of daily living The benefits of being independent are that it keeps the service user active and involved in their life, they keep their skills up to date, raises their self-esteem, makes them feel confident and encourages them to do more for themselves. For example, a person being able to get actively involved with getting dressed or washing themselves, even something as little as just by giving them a flannel and asking them to wash their face or just hands while I am washing parts they maybe need support with it still means they are doing part of their personal care themselves and encourages them to do small task themselves. 1.2 Explain how active participation promotes independence in the tasks of daily living Active participation can be used in many tasks such as a service user getting themselves dressed in the morning when possible or making themselves a drink or a snack. It gives them a …show more content…
For example: If I was to go in and do all the house hold tasks such as cleaning, changing beds, cooking etc., this could lead to the service users thinking that it’s the staff’s job to do the tasks when really it may be that the service users are actually supposed to help and participate in those type of tasks. So reading the daily logs, care plans and activity planners for the service users is a must because not only do I know what my responsibilities are I also find out what the service user’s roles and responsibilities are in and around the home to keep them independent. Using the service will have confidence in the organizations involved if information is clear; the service will be more efficient because each party will know what they need to do. Overall it will portray a more positive professional image as well as satisfaction for the person using the
This means they get to be involved if they think their needs to be improvements within the care home and what support they want. For example, a service user may want more activities to be able to socialise with other adults. Respect for religious beliefs: Each service user within our care must be respected with their religious beliefs. Making sure there is halal meat for Muslims, prayer rooms, allowing Christians to go church, providing religious books, wanting a female carer. All these needs should be respected as each individual should be able to follow their religion wherever they
Overall, this chapter does a great job simplifying the roles in human service
With a consumer, my main goal should always be to reduce symptoms and increase independent functioning. SCs provide information and referrals to individuals who need supportive services to maintain self-sufficiency. All SC demonstrates an ability to advocate and problem solve. Specifically, my professional roles include shadowing service coordinators as they are out in the field interacting with consumers. I manage the database of resources/ services that the unit provides (G-drive).

Service Strategies HUMN 6150- Helping Individuals, Organizations, and Communities Introduction to Human Services Fall Term 2016 Dr.Suhad Sadik Sulanis Murphy September 20, 2016 People are the most complex animals on the planet. We think in an entire other manner than alternate creatures that possess the world with us which makes our connections significantly more fascinating from an investigative perspective, if nothing else. Like some different creatures, we assemble together to frame social orders of every single diverse size in extra to the person. Nonetheless, we do this on an a great deal more muddled scale than any other creature. Human service professionals learn numerous techniques in their field of work.
This partnership can be your co-workers, managers and any visiting professional who have the service users best interest in mind. An individual can have knowledge and previous experience that could be invaluable to someone else within the setting. There are also others who have had more training in certain areas and will have the skills to understand and support not just an individual but a service user as well. A service users needs are more likely to be met if the team within the setting are working together so that they can support and provide the care that will have a positive effect on their physical and mental health.
According to Singer (2011), autonomy refers to a person to live their lives according to their own decisions. Seedhouse (2009) has a different perspective, as he considers autonomy as a quality; the better quality the autonomy, the more the person is able to do. When it comes to healthcare and maintaining health status, there are two types of autonomy. These are creating autonomy and respecting autonomy. Creating autonomy refers to any work aimed at enabling an individual and improving their capacity to achieve their goals and to do things.
Everyone in these situations are participating in their roles and contribute to society in their own

1.1 Explain what it means to have a duty of care in own work role. Duty of care means to have a legal responsibility towards others. It is a legal requirement that all health care workers must put the interest of their service users first and make sure that the service users do not come to any harm be it abuse or self-harm. As a care giver, my duty is to provide care according to the organisation’s code of practice in my day to day work, to make sure that my service users are supported and treated with dignity and respect by following the policies and procedures set out by my employer, it is my duty of care to involve service user in their care unless it is not possible for them to be involved. Service should be provided in a safe environment
Although my experiences are not as drastic as hers, she inspires me to make my own decisions. As I grow, I realize more that my independence is important because I cannot rely on other people as much since everyone’s experiences are different. For example, when they were children in Guyana, my parents had to walk miles to school while I am able to take the bus to school. Although my parents and I went to school up until the same age, our experiences lead to different approaches in situations. The transition from middle school to high school was eye opening because in middle school the class would move together, whereas in high school, everyone went their own ways.
Independence is when someone becoming an adult, where they can handle issues by themselves. This person is able to have their own ideas and opinions when they are making decisions. Many people have misunderstood the idea of being independent, they believe that living apart from their parents means they are independent. In the essay, “Invisible Labors: Caring for the Independent Person” by Lynn May Rivas, she states “Independence, after all, is not simply a passive status: it is something people ‘do’”(76). Being independent is not passive, where someone accepts what happens without any response, it should be a time where the person understands their responsibility and they are not influenced by others.
1.2 – explain how communication affects relationships in work setting relationships in work setting in health and social care are very important we need to build a relationship with are colleagues and mangers staff to enable us to work effectively.it is essential to establish good relationship and communication with service user and there family’s but you must always have boundaries and keep it professional effective communication and working relationships . In order to work effectively with a service user line mangers, colleagues and families you must be able to meet their needs relationships are also governed by body language facial expression smiling and ways in which others listen and talk to you. If the communication is poor between you and a service user and with your work colleague the care the service user receives will not be right for them if you’re not talking to them or communicating with them how are you going to know what they like or don’t like.

Disabled people are people who have mental or physical limitation so they depend on someone to support them in doing their daily life needs and jobs.
