This story is beneficial because it can be used as a tool to teach children about death. Little Snow White Little Snow White is probably the most well known story by the brother’s grimm. The story of a princess being hunted by her stepmother because of her looks uses Death to show how having certain behavioral traits will lead to others death. The story uses death as a result of two of the seven deadly sins mentioned in the bible. The Evil Queen who was “treacherous and wicked at heart” shows both envy and wrath, both of these traits lead her to be overcome with hatred and attempt to lead Snow White to her death three
She obtained a great power, stayed focused on her goals and exhibits powerful traits Snow White lacks from the beginning of the movie- agency towards ambitions. Snow White is an inactive female character who apart from dancing with the animals makes only two decisions on her own- to run in the woods and eat the poisonous
To maintain the aesthetic, Snow White is not allowed to break a sweat or struggle, and happily brings a dust covered, filthy home to a shining ideal by giving the bulk of the labor to her animal friends. There is a sharp contrast between Snow White, who is treated as a hard working individual despite delegating work to others, and the Seven Dwarves, treated as lazy despite performing hard physical labor. More value is placed on Snow White’s abilities as a leader and to direct how labor is performed than is placed on the dwarves’ ability to actually perform labor. Again, we see the value of the dwarves effectually being “dwarfed” by the capitalist lens we are shown the narrative
he dwarves could also be interpreted as Walt Disney 's employees and the prince as Disney (Bell et. al 38). In reference to the present, critics often scrutinized Snow White as one of the common Disney movies that demonstrated the need for women to constantly wait or their prince to make everything better and take no action on their own (Bell et. al 36). This idea was further analyzed by M. Thomas Inge, Professor of Humanities at Randolph-Macon College, who mentioned that when Snow White sang the song “Someday My Prince Will Come” which encouraged girls to wait for their prince patiently and filled their brains with unrealistic romantic expectations (Bernard qtd in Inge).
Snow White was know for being the fairest and most beautiful for her pale complexion. Also, Cinderella was fair-skinned unlike the antagonists or her stepsisters in the film as they are dark-skinned. All three princesses are similar as each fell in love at first sight with their princes. They also had to be saved by their prince charming. Snow White had to be saved from biting into the poisoned apple and would only be saved through a kiss from a prince.
In 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,' Evil Queen shows herself as a beautiful woman in the world. However, after Snow White survives from hunter, Evil Queen decides to kill Snow White by herself and Evil Queen becomes ugly grandmother. At the end, Snow Queen survives by prince's kiss and Evil Queen dies by thunder. Like Evil Queen, other villains, such as Scar from 'Lion King,' Claude Frollo from Hunchback of Notre Dame,' and Ratcliffe from 'Pocahontas,' are old, greedy, and powerful. Also, they have a bad ending.
‘Snowman’ is a rare survivor of a dreadful catastrophe caused by the fall of modern science. He lives in a tree, clothed with rags, and hiding from relentless heat. He is at risk to Wolvogs, Rakunks, and Pigoons: dangerous genetically engineered hybrid animals that lower his chance of survival. Genetically modified humans, known as Crakers regard Snowman as their teacher. Snowman recollects what has lead him here: A wasteland, slowly starving to death, mourning his beloved Oryx and his best friend Crake.
