A.P.J. Abdul Kalam - A people's President
Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, who was more popularly known as 'APJ' was the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He was basically a career scientist who turned into a politician, more by reluctance than by will. The most popular president of the country of all times was born on October 15, 1931, Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu in a poor Tamil Muslim boatsman's family.
Abdul Kalam, who was born to Ashiamma Jainulabiddin and Jainulabiddin Marakayar, and his father who owned a boat ferried Hindu pilgrims back and forth between Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi. It is said that his sister pawned jewellery with a moneylender so that Kalam could leave Rameswaram to join the Madras Institute of Technology. There is an anecdote about Kalam when he was studying aerospace engineering at the Madras Institute of Technology. The Dean of the college was not satisfied by his progress and threatened to revoke his scholarship unless the project was finished within the next three days. Kalam took up the challenge and completed the project, which impressed the Dean very much. Kalam had a dream of becoming a fighter pilot, but his dream could not be fulfilled as he could not qualify.

Warren Gamaliel Harding was the 29th President of the United States from March 4th, 1921 to 1923. Harding was born November 2, 1865 to parents George and Phoebe Harding. He was the oldest of eight siblings At the age of 14 Harding had begun attending Ohio Central College. After graduating college Harding worked as a teacher and briefly am insurance salesman before breaking into journalism as a career in the town of Marion, Ohio. Harding is the only president to have a background in journalism.
Jackson the Autocrat Andrew Jackson was an autocratic leader. He is an autocratic leader because of the Indian Removal, Spoils System, and National Bank Controversy. Andrew Johnson On December 29th of 1808 Andrew Johnson, a future, Husband, tailor, Mayor, Governor senate and President of the United states was born, in the City of Raleigh, North Carolina. Some people supported and agreed with his views and many others didn’t but weather how they felt about it nobody can deny the impact that he had on this nation. Johnson was a self educated man and never attended a University. Andrew’s father died while he was only 3 years old which caused the family to live in poverty. His mother had to step up and provide the needs since her husband passed away.
Herbert Hoover Herbert Hoover the 31st president of the United Stated was born August 10th, 1874 in West Branch, Iowa. His mother was a teacher and his father was a blacksmith he had been orphaned at the age of nine. In Oregon he had been primarily raised by his uncle(History.com Staff, 2,3). Then later in his life after he had attended the Quaker schools he had gone to Stanford University in 1891. He had been one of the many students who attended college that year.

Gandhi once said, “An eye-for-an-eye makes the whole world blind.” What he meant is that fighting violence with violence helped no one. During his lifetime, Gandhi fought against oppressive British rule in India, and his journey was known throughout the world. Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela both shared Gandhi’s thirst for freedom, basing their respective movements for peace on Gandhi’s. All three men fought peacefully for equality, whether it was for India’s freedom from the British empire, emancipation from apartheid laws that prohibited black Africans from being truly free, or liberation from Jim Crow laws to keep black Americans inferior to whites.
In time of tragedy, President Lyndon Baines Johnson provided greatly needed stability and continuity to United States. He became the 36th President of United States following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Lyndon B. Johnson is considered one of the most brilliant and expert Politian of his time. Among innumerable misfortunes in his young years and his career as a Politician, he proved to be a noble and a proficient President. His life experiences gave him extraordinary visions for a better society and equality.
Presidents usually are born into wealthy families, but not for Andrew Johnson. Johnson began his life in poverty, while he worked his way up to president. Besides, he and other scholars had undergone through different experiences in the hands of the white man. For instance, he mentions the idea of the “great mystery” at the chapel when he was together with other scholars.
President Andrew Jackson, had many accomplishments regarding his presidency although one of the greatest achievements exploited was the overcoming of past incidents throughout his life. He portrayed that a man didn’t need wealth, prestige nor an abundance of education to fascinate or interest the average voter. He put in perspective, his life struggles, to show the people just as him and every president serving before him was a man just as the next man voting or serving a term in presidency. It takes a lot out of one person to gain power. Throughout history nonviolence has been proven to overcome violence including; Egypt, India and the USA. Many people think that violence will solve all problems. In fact the best way for the oppressed to gain power is by nonviolence. Many people say that violence is never the answer.
