Adolescents who have emotional and social problems cannot fit into normal situations. If one is not able to fit into normal situations, he/she cannot achieve at the expected level. The main aim of schooling gets spoiled. They become a problem to themselves as well as to the home, school and community. There are many issues that affect America today things such as; hunger, poverty, crime, and even cancer. These issues impact the life of millions of Americans. If we educate people there is a high likelihood that they will use this knowledge to correct any of these issues or even solve them in their entirety. If the cost of higher education were lowered to a more affordable level, so many more individuals could take advantage of this resource, therefore, educating the masses and correcting various other problems in America’s society.
Data were displayed showing the total ranges of the ratings, medians, means, and standard deviations for each of the categories. These data provide additional information that was not reported previously. From the data, one notes that the Self-imposed category (which included stressors one imposes on self) was the most stressful among the stressors categories. The Physiological category (which includes emotional and behavioral reactions) involved the most common reactions to stressors. In providing these additional data on the SSI, there should be a better understanding of how the SSI was constructed, and how it can be used in future research
As a college freshmen, there is no doubt that I still have a long ways to go in order to achieve my academic goals. And through this journey, I know that I will encounter highs and lows just as I experienced in the past, most notability in high school. I keenly remember instances around this time where I doubted my abilities when subjects like math was proving to be difficult, even when I was trying to put in effort to stay on track. I was struggling in math because I did not try to identify my weaknesses, and never tried to come up with solutions to fix my problems. Rather, I chose to give up on math and settle with a grade barely passing.

I come from a small community plagued with poverty and low opportunities. My parents never completed high school and struggle financially. The members of my community are mostly migrant workers. The region where I live has the highest unemployment rate in California. Despite this, I want to better myself.
I used to dream to become a nurse or a doctor to help as many people as I could, but I had to give up my dream when my family fell into financial trouble. Dropping out of college, I struggled with the cruelty of life to make both ends meet. However, when moving to America, I found that I still have chances to pursue my dream when receiving encouragement from my husband. He wants me to go back to school before it is too late. Anyway, it is not easy to return to school after over 10 years.
Education, for decades, was considered to be the last choice for the people who desired a better and successful life. To many people, education is a very important part of life. Knowledge is the key to success and the most valuable accessory one could wear. It is necessary to have knowledge to pursue your dreams. Every country has its own education and strategies to continual success.
Academic success to me is achieving good grades and understanding the material to get good grades. Academic success also means to have an good attendance. I already get mostly A’s and B’s, but I am not good at staying on top of things. To improve my academic success I will attend class more often, be more organized, pay attention in class, and not procrastinate.
“Academic success,” for me, doesn’t mean graduating high school with a 4.0 GPA and attending an Ivy League college with a ton of scholarships. Personally, the term “academic success” means being able to feel proud of my own dedication and the hard work that I put in. Having the end result ultimately be, walking across the stage at graduation; whether that be at my high school graduation next year or my college graduation down the line. I know I will have achieved the epitome of my own “academic success” when I am dress in a cap and gown and am sitting at either of my graduations. All I hope for is that I am able to attend a college I want to attend, have proud parents, and in the end, proud of myself.

Social support and professional networks: Social support in conjunction with coping strategies and identification of personality styles can lead to effective management of stressors. The provision of academic, social, and behavioral support systems and networks are effective for reducing distress and preventing unhealthy levels of stress. Further, teaching stress identification and stress reduction techniques provides learners with an effective tool for use personally and in the clinical area. Stress involves interaction of the person and environment. To quote a definition: “Stress is an adaptive response to an external situation that results in physical, psychological and / or behavioural deviations for organizational participants” (Luthans, 1998). Stress has generally been viewed as a set of neurological and physiological reactions that serves an adaptive function (Franken, 1994). Traditionally, stress research has been oriented toward studies involving the body's reaction to stress and the cognitive processes that influence the perception of stress. However, social perspectives of the stress response have noted that different people experiencing similar life conditions are not necessarily affected in the same manner (Pearlin, 1982).
Several studies have been done to identify problems that affects student’s academic performance. To what extent do educational outcomes vary according to ethnicity? Education is one of the major achievements a person can have with the hope of having a bright future. However, due to ethnicity not every pupil is given the same opportunity. Statistics produced by the Department of Education shows that members of ethnic minorities are the least likely to reach a proper level of education throughout their lives.
