FILTERS Filters are devices which will remove the particulate matter from the atmospheric air such as dust, pollen, mould, bacteria. These filters are composed of fibrous materials. Filters containing absorbent or catalyst which can also remove odor and gas pollutants such as chlorine, nitrous oxides and ozone. Now a days these filters are used in many industries and used as home appliances. By recent research these filters efficiency increased and it can even remove particulates which remove size which is not visible to naked eye. The air intakes of internal combustion engines and air compressors tend to use either paper, foam, or cotton filters. As we know there are so many types of air filters and according to the pollution level the filters are we know for large scale pollution such as industries and factories the air filters are big and should me more effective. For home appliances small scale filters are enough to remove the dust or smoke which cause inside or near the house.…show more content…
Briefly it with trap the particulate matter with high efficiency .These type of filters are mostly used in automobiles, Healthcare facilities, air crafts and homes. These filters should satisfy the standards whose are set by United States Department of Energy (DOE). To succeed as HEPA filter by US government Standards, that it must remove 99.97% of particles that have a size of 0.3 µm. These filters are composed of a mat of randomly arranged fibers. These filters mainly depend on the factors such as fiber diameter, filter thickness, and face velocity. The air space between HEPA filter fibres is typically much greater than 0.3 μm. HEPA filters are designed to target much smaller pollutants and particles. These Particles can be trapped in filters by three mechanisms:
