It has always been the ultimate desire of mankind to conquer, invade and win something which doesn’t belong to him. These desires gave rise to the development of deadly weapons and killing machines that can be used to kill people effortlessly. One of these deadly inventions was the ‘assault rifle’.
An assault rifle is a selective fire rifle that uses an intermediate-power cartridge and a detachable magazine. It is a lightweight rifle developed from the sub-machine gun, which may be set to fire automatically or semi automatically. By United States army definition, a selective fire rifle chambered for a cartridge of intermediate power. If applied to any semi-automatic firearm regardless of its cosmetic similarity to true assault rifle, the term is incorrect. United States Army has specified some characteristics which a firearm must have to be considered as an

The new weapon, was named as the MP43, MP44, or Sturmgewehr (“Assault Rifle”) 44, was loaded by a curved box magazine capable of holding 30 rounds and was designed for most-effective fire at about 300 yards (270 metres). Only 425,000 to 440,000 of these rifles were produced-too few for the millions of soldiers fighting the war —but that was the beginning of a new era of weapons. The term assault rifle is believed to have been coined by Adolf Hitler. Toward the end of World War II, the story goes, Hitler hailed his army’s new wonder weapon by insisting that it be called not by the technical name given it by its developers, the Machinenpistole (the German name for a submachine gun), but rather something that made for better propaganda copy. A Sturmgewehr, Hitler named the new gun: a “storm” or “assault”
Artifact C shows what was called a Spencer Rifle. This rifle allowed for soldiers to load up to seven shots of a .52-caliber bullet and them to be fired rapidly. This new rifle was a major advantage for soldiers as they could load and fire multiple bullets where as the standard musket that could only load and fire one bullet at a time. Pictured next to Artifact C, the Spencer Rifle used a .52-caliber bullet that was a self-contained unit. This meant that the bullet and gunpowder were contained within a metallic cartridge that could be loaded into the rifle.
The topic I want to talk about is Gun violence. Gun violence is pretty much explains itself, It is the usage of a gun to commit a violent act. I think Gun violence is an important issue because there are roughly 32,000 gun deaths per year. The way it affects me personally, is because my grandmother shot herself when I was younger.
This particular gun can be customized to kill even more efficiently with bump-fire stocks, which are completely legal (2018). The accessibility and popularity of this gun has made it the weapon of choice for many. This type of weapon has no place on the streets and neighborhoods of American people, which is why a ban on semiautomatic weapons and bump-fire stocks would prevent such lethal shootings, like the Orlando nightclub shooting where 50 people were killed or the Las Vegas shooting where 58 people were killed on the streets (The Washington Post, 2018). Many will say that a gun is a gun or that mass killings could be done with a knife, however, allowing anyone to buy a semiautomatic weapon and customize it to shoot at fast as an automatic gun that is used to fight in war combat is certainly not
There were guns, cannons, knives, landmines, and many other effective weapons. The most popular kind of gun was the repeating rifle. These were the first kinds of rifles that allowed you to fire more than one bullet without having to reload the gun. This was much safer and quicker than shooting one bullet then having to reload the gun. The most popular repeating rifle was the Spencer Carbine.
One side calls them weapons of war, the other side claims the term “assault weapon” is merely an intimidating term used to scare liberals and anti-gun advocates. In 1994, President Bill Clinton signed a national ban on assault weapons. The assault weapons ban comes with a sunset effect and every 10 years the ban automatically expires and every gun advocate crawls out of hiding to make sure the ban doesn’t renew (“Should the government restrict access to assault weapons?”). Congress needs to stand up to the NRA to reinstate the ban. Assault weapons are militarized styled guns that are meant to kill a mass number of people at an alarming rate and these weapons should not be in the hands of ordinary citizens.
The reason rifles are need to defend against a tyrannical government is because the military uses rifles and body armor so pistols aren’t as effective against them and if the people are out gunned and skilled by the military they will lose in the effort to defend their freedom. One of the biggest issues with people demanding gun control on assault rifles is that they are misinformed. The definition of assault rifle is “any of various intermediate-range, magazine-fed military rifles (such as the AK-47) that can be set for automatic or semiautomatic fire” according to merriam-webster. The current gun control laws are already heavily restrictive on assault rifles. The current law requires the person to send in photos of themselves, send in fingerprints, fill out an application, interview with ATF, interview
Another day. Another shooting rampage. Or so it seems to many Americans as they sit down to watch the evening news. “We need change!” shout the protestors as the politicians bicker among themselves about what is to blame.
Good afternoon. I am here to help fight for the cause to save your lives. Imagine this; you are taking a test in one of your classes. Then you hear a gunshot and the entire school goes into lockdown. Your friend, or sibling gets shot, while in the hallway, but for your own safety, you can’t leave your hiding spot.
and fearmongering. The “assault weapons ban” that some are trying to pass is essentially useless as the majority of attacks do not involve these types of rifles, also the weapons they are trying to ban are only aesthetically different than other rifles under the same ban. An assault weapon is also a made up term used to scare people. Anything could be an assault weapon, it would add a lot of credibility to the anti-gun argument if correct terms were used. Also most people talk about the magazine and call them “clips” which is incorrect.
Muchacho, Joe, Estudiante; Let me assure your, no offense was taken. I 've always tried to help the uneducated. It should not be to difficult to figure out, that I 'm tying to bring a sense of reality and fairness to the discussion. I unlike you, gave you a site with an array of photos. Yes some of them were dressed in “full camo” and others just had a coat.
Weapons are deemed as a significant element for military strategies all over the world. Overtime, these illicit weapons distributed to police forces have caused injuries some at minor at levels and whilst some are deemed at extreme levels. Electronic stun devices and other less-lethal weapons are marketed as offering unmitigated benefits to both police and public safety, with this statement there are various problems also associated with these devices such as unnecessary injury and deaths. There are various intentional injuries that police officers are affected by whilst working, the prevalence of injury in the force is rather high. By the 1800s, after departments and police departments distributed weapons and demanded the use of force that
They didn’t have cooling mechanisms, so they would quickly overheat and become unusable until they would be cooled by either water or air. Machine guns started becoming
Gun Control: Assault Weapons Should be Banned in America In the past decade there have been many mass shootings which sparked a nationwide debate on the ban on assault weapons. Assault weapons are Semiautomatic weapons that are usually used in the military due to their advanced features. The difference between a Semiautomatic weapon and a regular pistol is that semiautomatic guns reload automatically and can fire consistently (Assault Weapons). Majority of Americans argue that Assault Weapons should be banned nationwide because of the amount of mass shootings caused by Assault weapons.
World War I. America needed an advantage to beat Germany and their allies. So a true patriot created one of the first assault weapon and named it the Thompson submachine gun. The weapon would of made a big difference on the war ,but it was created when the war was over. So gangsters acquired the weapons and killed many lives. New assault weapons came and ended more lives.
To begin with, the second amendment of the US constitution gives citizens the right to carry or possess a gun. As a result, gun violence in America has increased drastically over the years due to guns being utilised in a reprehensible manner and people getting wedged in the crossfire, hence why stringent law enforcements need to be put in place regarding guns in the US. “Since 1982, there have been at least 61 mass murders carried out with firearms; in most cases, the killers had obtained their weapons legally”.
