Being the MVP of an all star sports team is a breathtaking title that only all players of adroitness can dream of. The higher an athlete's status is in a specific sport is, the harder the fall will be for the athlete. A concussion can be a career shattering injury with hard to deal with symptoms and long term effects. Being a smart competitor, remember that no match is more important than the health of athletes that are playing. Do not let concussions ruin the sports you love to play.
The first day of tryouts started and I was paired up with Cooper and a freshman, all competing for one spot. Quickly, I realized that both of my opponents could hit the ball farther than me and I began to forget my father's guidance of playing conservatively, in an attempt to keep up with them. I began hitting my more inconsistent clubs, hoping for longer yardage. This method of “Go Big or Go Home” didn’t work out very well because after the first day I was losing by three strokes to Cooper and losing by four strokes to the freshman. After telling my dad how the first day had gone, he told me that I needed to play my own golf game and not worry about them.
‘I am still a beast at bay,’ he said, in a low, hoarse voice. ‘Get ready, General Zaroff’”(Connell 21). Rainsford used his survival skills and his wit to survive “the most dangerous game”. This was not easy, and required extreme mental and physical fortitude. In the real world, people possess the same type of will and perseverance.
Sports by nature are an environment that requires people to push their bodies to extreme limits in order for people to become the best at their individual sport or skill. Though out history athlete have pushed the limits of their bodies to accomplish these tasks, while going to these extremes many have suffered injuries, maiming and in some cases death. Athletes though out the centuries have accepted these risks and as a society we acknowledge risks by stating, “ injuries are part of the game”. My theory is finding different means of achieving athletic success is part of the game as well and if the athlete is staying within the spirit of sport i.e. competing to win against an opponent within the rules of the game, therefore the athlete is not deviant.
This does not mean that just because you have this gene you are the best because if we don’t put that gene to work then it’s basically useless. Everybody is made different and everybody 's brain are wired differently and some peoples brains are wired to be really good at sports and pick up thing easier.
Common psychological challenges in sports are: concentration, confidence, control, and commitment. These are addressed through the 4Cs formula. Concentration is crucial for the success of PST. The lack of concentration can be detrimental to performance given that different sports demand varying levels of concentration. Lack of concentration can be addressed by: goal setting, breaking down a task into specific aspects and focusing on each aspect, using trigger words to refocus in the event of concentration lapse, and developing a routine for competition (before, during, after) (Unit 10, n.d) The second challenge is confidence.
Obstacles in life is just like the game of Jenga. You take out a piece successfully and put it on top. But never forget that as we finish each turn, it only gets harder and harder to accomplish. One wrong move and it would cost you everything that you haveworked so hard achieve for. People like who I was, so focused and determined on succeeding, forgetting the fact that success also comes with failure.
Where is the line drawn between competition and aggression? Weinberg and Gould (2015, P.108) explored how it is not competition alone that arouses aggression, but the focus on doing whatever it takes to win “even when this means unfair play or injuring an opponent.” Although competition can be healthy and can teach people to work together to strive for mutual goals, without a doubt it can also skew a coach’s ethics. Foul play and cheating such as use of anabolic steroids, doping, corrupt referees/judges, bribing, violence (e.g. biting) and even medication, have become commonplace in sports competitions worldwide. Weinberg and Gould
The sport has become part of daily life of a person if the passion is stronger than just a simple dream it can be transformed from a hobby to a profession. The incredible part of sports is that no matter which type of sport it is or the varieties of techniques, at the end there is a midpoint which represents union and the connection with your mind and body; it inspires and trills society. Unfortunately, the obsession to have victory can forget completely honesty and integrity; when athletes want to have more physical capacity than the natural one they have they go to the drug to have an over human capacity. Likewise, doping consist in using illegal or prohibited substances in sports to have a better athletic performance. According to ProCon Organization (2011), more
