Silence means the complete absence of sound. When people are silent, they are choosing not to be heard and there options not viewed. Everyday, all around us, we see the consequences of being silent show themselves in the form of discrimination, genocide, and war. Even though we know being silent causes theses events, we still do it because; we are too scared, we don't think we can help, or even we think it's none of our business.
One of the main reasons people stay silents is there to frightened to speak up. People are sometimes put in positions that are very fearful. It's perfectly normal to be scared, but while some people feel that if they speak up, they can help somebody else, many people believe they will be negatively be affected if they talk, so they choose to remain silent .Often the people that speak up on these occasions sacrifice themselves for the greater good. Like in Malas case, she knew if she spoke up she would be shot but she choose to fight through her fears and stand up for herself. In Malas UN speech she state “the Taliban shot me on the left side of my forehead. They shot my friends too. They thought that the bullets would silence us. But they failed. And then, out of that silence came, thousands of voices. But in the worlds history we've come to find out that's not the truth at all. If all the countries in WW2 would have spoken up together to stop Germany in its early stages, then the war would have stopped a lot sooner, and alot of lives would have been saved. A lot of people are too scared to speak up for what's right but if you don't shake that fear then these bad events are just going to keep happening again and
