Engineering itself is an innovative field, the origin of ideas leading to everything from automobiles to aerospace, skyscrapers to sonar. Biomedical engineering focuses on the advances that improve human health and health care at all levels. There are many subdisciplines within biomedical engineering, including the design and development of active and passive medical devices, orthopedic implants, medical imaging, biomedical signal processing, tissue and stem cell engineering, and clinical engineering, just to name a few. Giving the fact that biomedical engineering is such a vast domain, engineers all over the world can come up with different ideas on how to make everyday life easier and safer. Whether we are talking about spectaculary engineering inventions such as ECG-electrocardiogram, EEG-electroencephalogram, CT-computer tomography etc or just small improvements done to the medical devices, every step done in the purpose of research matters. So, starting from this concept , I truly believe that every aspect of our life should be taken in consideration. Everyday hobbies and activities …show more content…

While some of the causes aren’t something that biomedical engineering can deal with, hypothermia is it. How is biomedical engineering linked to this ? Before we got into the explanation, first we must understand the process of Hypothermia. Hypothermia is reduced body temperature that happens when a body dissipates more heat than it absorbs. In humans, it is defined as a body core temperature below 35.0 °C (95.0 °F). Symptoms depend on the temperature. In mild hypothermia there is shivering and mental confusion. Hypothermia is the cause of at least 1500 deaths a year in the United States. The chart below shows how long you can be exposed to certain temperatures before it will result in frost
