The purpose of doing a comparative study on how a building envelope system work in achieving Thermal Comfort as an approach in Nature Responsive Design between two rainforest resorts within the same country is to identify the similarities as well as the differences. Having said that the building envelope system is the most important element in architecture due to its functions and decorative elements, it is imperative to discover the characteristics of a building envelope system. Site experienced and literature review was conducted to go in depth about the building envelope system. Belum Rainforest Resort is compared with Templer Park Resort, this is to provide a wider range of important research and understanding of the building envelope system. The building envelope system consist of the elements of the outer shell that will form a dry, heated or cooled indoor environment. It acts as a strategy in achieving thermal comfort by providing thermal and weather barriers. It also provides an air barrier to prevent strong wind from entering. Not only does the system act as a strategy in providing structure and safety from fire, it also adds to the …show more content…
In terms of the materials chosen, I would definitely say that the architect had made a thorough job in designing or investigating the types of materials. Besides that, in terms of the facade and the roof application, I would also say that it is well thought of. Reason being is because when I was there, I was really amazed at how the building was orientated and responding properly to the climate in order for the spaces to be shaded or covered. Aside from that, I also think that the application applied between or within the buildings such as the small gardens or courtyards helped in improving the appearance of the surrounding as well as reducing the surrounding
M3 M3: Make and support valid decisions relating to the specification of materials for a tutor provided application Introduction By using the materials identified in P6 I can decide on which material is best suited for a foundation, building frame, guttering, external cladding of walls and wall insulation by looking at each materials properties and performance. This will help decide on which material is best suited for each component of the building as we will be able to find which material is the strongest and long-lasting for the foundation and which is best at stopping heat transfer for the wall insulation. For a construction project to be successful the right material needs to be used for each component in the building to ensure that the
The Architectural Fantasy by Hubert Robert is an oil painting created in 1802. For an architectural painting, is displays much emotion through the use of color, line, and light. The painting does not utilize a multitude of colors but still is able to provide an exciting scene. Although it does not appear to be that large in the gallery, the work would actually be prominent if it were a standalone piece. The artist’s use of perspective, light, and color give the overall composition a balanced look.
There are many fascinating mosaics on the Tower. Some materials used for the design and structure were iron, metal, pink and grey marble coquina stone, friezes, tiles, carved screens, arched entranceway, balconies, and sculpted finals. Some of the themes consist of philosophy, depiction in, the Bible, Nature and humanity. There was also Renaissance -style iron
The most significant architectural features of the building are: • It’s battered walls-thinner at the top than at the bottom to give an impression of solidarity and height. •The diamond panned windows incorporated without a style break. •the columns of reeds bunched together with palm leaf
USPS Synthesis Essay The U.S. Postal Service has been around for quite some time. They compete with other companies such as UPS or Fedex as they are all known as the most popular postal services. Over time, society has changed due to the technology influences. With the influences, the U.S. Postal Services have encountered a total mail volume decreasing and a loss in revenue.
USPS (United States Postal Service) is a mail and shipping company that is authorized by the U.S. Government to perform postal services in public interest, as well as commercial postal activities to meet personal and business mailing needs of U.S. citizens and support its work. USPS serves the needs of customers on over 30,000 USPS locations in the country and has a transport fleet of over 200,000 vehicles. The USPS network consists of various types of retail spots that provide mail pickup and additional government-authorized services, as well as of USPS mailboxes that are used for mail drop offs at U.S. residential and business addresses. USPS post offices offer reliable ground delivery for less-than-urgent shipments and priority mail services
The building was 200 ft tall, and the façade was excessively ornamented in a beautiful way, and in a mixture of different styles including Gothic, Baroque, Churrigueresque to illustrate the appearance of a Spanish Colonial church. The facade was made of stone, and it did not include usual ornamentation, but sculpted historical figures of remarkable and significant people mostly were
The development of modern day architecture is very fascinating. Even though it has a very significant difference to architecture in the past, it still has many similarities. Many famous buildings we have today still show the same basic designs. For example, the Lincoln Memorial is very similar to the Parthenon.
Mankind has always faced many natural obstacles, one of them being the harsh elements of the weather. In order to protect themselves, humans began to build shelters to keep warm and survive. This acted as the roots that gave rise to the industry of architecture. As time has passed and societies have come and gone, the advancements in architecture have continued to grow, but never again has there been a time more influential and lasting on architecture than the era of the Greeks and Romans. Their architectural achievements revolutionized modern architecture in a way that is still being used to this day.
This helps to manage unoccupied spaces. For calculating heating and cooling loads, it is important that all volumes are accounted for and there are no gaps in the analytical model. It causes the interior to be considered exterior, which impacts the heating and cooling loads. Silver space refers to the small space between two walls. Building Envelope:
New designs have been adopted since the onset of architecture, and thus, with the concentration of a history of architecture, new phenomenon and innovations are realized that would help in further explanation and address of other necessities in the same sector. A concentration in the History of architecture and landscape architecture as a course incorporates more than one element of
Light is reflected of the aluminum to the interior walls of the vaults and softly illuminated the gallery space in a soft glow. While the building catches the eye with elements like white travertine walls and heavy concrete vaults, there is no doubt that the natural light illuminating the gallery is the aspect most likely to be considered monumental. This light effect would not be possible without the attention to structure given by Kahn and, therefore, gives merit to Kahn’s claim that monumentality is achieved through
Digital architecture involves the use of computer modelling, programming, simulation and imaging to create both virtual forms and physical structures. The ways in which architecture is formed, created, presented, and marketed is transforming – in relation to the transition to a digital society. Digital architecture allows complex calculations that delimit architects and allow a diverse range of complex forms to be created with great ease using computer algorithms. Architecture created digitally might not involve the use of actual materials (brick, stone, glass, steel, wood).
The style of the building and the purpose it is built give a brief and thoughtful storybook about the culture of the architect as art, generally, and architecture, particularly, is a language itself. Thus, buildings narrate the stories of the people among the history and tell their traditions and habits to the next generation through its design, inscriptions, and details. In this essay, I will discuss how both the style and function of the Greek Parthenon and the Roman Pantheon served as typical examples of their cultures in Athens and ancient Rome. In addition to the similarities and differences between these two cultures through the two buildings. Both the Greek and the Roman architecture inspired the cultures and architects until these days due to the diverse meaning they carry and symbolize in astonishing ways through the different orders, columns, roofs, friezes, and domes.
Eco friendly building material is those provide the appropriate service and lifetime, with the minimal maintenance, while minimizing the decimation the raw of material, the pollution from, and also energy consumption by production and use, and that have the maximum potential for the reuse. The use of the Eco friendly building materials and products are represents one important strategy in the design of a building. In addition, the Eco friendly building materials have benefits to the building users such as improved health and the productivity, in order to change the spatial configurations of the lower costs associated, reduced maintenance costs over the life of the building and so forth.
