Gem of the Mountains comes from all of the natural resources such as gold, silver, copper, lead, and beautiful gemstones such as star garnets, opal, jasper, and jade. Little Ida refers to Idaho being one of the smaller regions. The Spud state means that Idaho has so many potatoes.
I choose the Crystal River State Archaeological State Park in Crystal River , Florida. It is more commonly know as the Indian Burial Mounds. The park itself is in a beautiful location , overlooking the Crystal River on one side and grassy plains on the other side. There is recreational activities in the park as well as the museum. Some of the activities are salt and freshwater fishing , picnicking , bird watching and nature walks. The museum itself features a video about the ancient tribe that once lived there and a collection of artifacts. A few of the artifacts are arrowheads , pottery , jewelry , stone and bone tools. The main attraction of the interior museum is a diorama of a scale model of the site when the Indians lived there .
The colors, they are so fascinating to this work of art that the weather created. The work of art was mad by water on a cotton plantation back in the 1800s. Providence Canyon has an amazing scenery with many different colors on the walls of the canyon. Every time it rained on the cotton field the water would form a huge ditch or trench that kept expanding. In the 1850s the ditches grew up to 5 feet. This park can grab tourist's attention and bring visitors into our state. It has 43 colors of sand that can be a beautiful site to see. It has a camping spot where you can camp and see how beautiful it looks at night. Providence Canyon is located on Georgia, Alabama, line. The canyon has colors from the Alabama clay. The rocks are
The Salem Witch Trials was an event caused by much more than a town full of “witches”. The small town in New England in 1962 faced one of the United States’ most disastrous mass genocides. A group of ten young girls accused roughly 200 people of making deals with the devil. Many of the accused were hanged at Proctor’s Ledge by Gallows Hill, while a few died in the jails waiting for their death sentence. The accusations were based almost entirely on spectral evidence, or evidence from the supernatural. This evidence is easily faked, so what really fueled the young girls to cause such hysteria? Often, the people accused had nothing of possession or were very rich with lots of land. Others were in the middle of disagreements with their neighbors.
There are cities, like Philadelphia, that as time passes they start to grow in size and population as a result they have to create recreational places. As years go by, people start to interact more in recreational places until they become a cosmopolitan canopy. According to the book “The Cosmopolitan Canopy: Race and Civility in Everyday Life” by Elijah Anderson, a cosmopolitan canopy is a place that provides opportunities for new relationships to develop and where people come together to socialize and practice getting along with others. In this reading, Anderson also explains that a cosmopolitan canopy is not just created by the place itself or by the diversity of ethnicity, gender, and social class in and around it but also by the “goodwill that is expressed and experienced by most who enter these premises” (Anderson 11). Personally, I agree with Anderson because in order for something to become a cosmopolitan canopy, there has to be difference on the people in it. Also, people have to feel safe in that area in order for them to continue visiting the place. One of these recreational places in Philadelphia that became a cosmopolitan canopy is Rittenhouse Square.
Haleakalā National Park is a park in Maui, Hawaii. Maui is the second largest island out of the Hawaiian Islands. To get to the park you would have to fly, or go on a cruise. The park is at the southeastern part of the island. It is surrounded by lots of other parks, but Haleakalā is the prettiest.

Fifteen minutes away from Baton Rouge, Plaguemine is nestled next to the Mississippi River and the pre-historic Bayou Plaquemine. Unlike most inner-city Sydney suburbs, Erskineville offers a village-like appeal with green, leafy streets, some of the most famous of Sydney cafes, choice schools, and friendly neighbours. The fact that it sits within 3 short kilometres of the central business district is just one of the many perks of living in Erskineville. Working professionals love it for the culture and the proximity to the capital city for the short work commute. Some even choose to take a stroll into work over driving or riding public transport, though these options are available. Erskineville is rich with Australian history and heritage buildings, making it somewhat of a landmark all its own.
San Francisco is a city located in northern California on the tip of a peninsula surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. San Francisco was founded on June 29,1776 by Spain. San Francisco has a Climate very close to a Mediterranean Climate and there is lots of fog. Temperatures in San Francisco rarely range below 37 degrees Fahrenheit or above 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Over the course of a year the temperature typically varies from 44 degrees Fahrenheit to 73 degrees Fahrenheit. San Francisco has been given the name “the air-conditioned city” because its temperatures don’t go extremely high or extremely low. San Francisco is a great city but it needs a little improving to bring in more tourists.
Exhibition park has it’s pros and cons but it needs some changes to it. First of all the park has many courts and fields to play on as well as a playground for little kids, but it needs a basketball court because basketball is a popular sport like baseball and football. Adding a soccer field is also a good choice. The park needs more benches for people to sit, read, do work and many more. The playground needs more things added to it so more kids would start to play there. There should also be more trees and vegetation because we would want to make the park very environmentally friendly for the city of Guelph. It can also help encourage people to plant more trees everywhere in Guelph by setting an example.
Burning Man is an annual music and art festival that is held in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada. The festival has more than 70,000 people in attendance each year and attracts people from all over the world. The festival lasts nine days, with a closing ceremony the last day of the festival. During the closing ceremony, a temple that is in the center of the festival grounds is set on fire, hence the name, “Burning Man”. A man ran into the flames and committed suicide, his motives were unclear seeing as his friends and family thought of him as a happy person. He was able to get past security, and outran them straight into the flames. Although rescuers were quick on scene, rescue was difficult due to the burning structure being unstable. The festival often has major drug use which is speculated to be a possibility as to why he ran into the flames. People have tried to run into the flames before but have been unsuccessful. The event is meant to celebrate art and music but it often attracts heavy drug use which has an impact on the event.
