Session 1: Reflection Paper
Attending Colorado Christian University was nothing but an unexpected, amazing
blessing. The passion for wanting to influence children in a positive way has always been
pressed on my heart and mind. Coming from a large family with me being the oldest sister of
five and having a natural gift with children, I felt directed to pursue a degree in education. There
isn’t a specific event or experience in my life, but several that have influenced my academic
work and goals.
I’ve been searching for an online bachelor degree in elementary education for over a
year. Having a husband that is in the military makes it very difficult to settle somewhere to begin
on a degree program. Financially, getting

For the past six months, I have been involved in a connect group with some wonderful
woman from church. I would talk to them about how stuck I felt with knowing when and where I
can continue my college education. We would lift it up in prayer, but I would still feel
discouraged if I’d even have the opportunity and financial means for college. Over the next few
months I learned to accept and trust the fact that it was in God’s hands and perfect timing.
Finally, I was at peace and no longer had anxiety about when and where I’d start college because
I knew that God understood the desire I had. Also, God knows my characteristics and passion, so
I’d tell myself, “If He pressed on me to want to become a teacher, then why wouldn’t He provide
the opportunity to do so?”

With a great deal of fasting, praying, and patience, God presented the opportunity for me
to get back into school. I was driving to work listening to K-LOVE radio and heard the
advertisement for Colorado Christian University. I felt like God was truly speaking to me. When
I got home, I immediately researched and applied. I believe that God waited for me to trust
I know that as long as I have the awesome support system that I have from my friends and family, I will surely be able to maintain good grades and focus skills while attending Colorado Christian College completing the degree in which I started. I cannot allow anything to hold me back and I will make sure that if I ever feel like I am getting overwhelmed I will make sure that I reach out to my support system to stay on task. Now that I am once again surrounded by success, support, and love and helping hands. I know I can do this this time around, all I need is the door opened. I have faith that this is the right time for me to finally get that career that my family and I
If you are looking into an accredited online bachelor degree program, be sure to do your homework. It is generally better to go with one of the big name institutions than to try an unknown school you found online. There are scams out there which will take your money and may even send you a paper certificate, but they are not licensed and registered, nor are they accredited with the appropriate
Before I discuss my experience at Grace Lutheran Church I feel it would be beneficial to explain my Church Background, so that you can better understand my outsider view of the Sunday morning worship Service I attended. I have been raised in the Baptist/Southern Baptist church my entire life. My parents are from South Carolina, which is also where I grew up, so our idea of Church has always been a small community with a very relaxed atmosphere. I stopped attending the Baptists church when I was 16. I chose to join Bent-tree Bible Fellowship, a non-denominational church.
Plenary Keynote “On the Idea of a Christian College” - Dr. Timothy Larsen (8:30 session) “Knowledge is an end in and of itself” In this discussion, Dr. Timothy Larsen discussed the calling and the mission of a Christian liberal arts college and how a college like Northwestern allows us as students to connect our faith, purpose, intellect, and service. Throughout the speech, Larsen argued against the critics who believe that a liberal arts education is worthless and that students who attend such colleges are “being scammed” because they are taught things that they will never otherwise use in their careers and/or life. These critics of a liberal arts education do not believe there is a utility-maximizing point for the widened array of required subject study offered at a liberal arts college.
Adriana Ortiz Mr. Ruff History Hnrs 05/08/2023 Christianity taking ahold Many ask how a religion that originated in the first century has affected many people's lives today. It began with Jesus of Nazareth over two thousand years ago, he lived among the Jewish and claimed that he was the Messiah. As time passed, Jesus through His actions, helped spread new beliefs of kindness and love to the poor and sinners.
On Wednesday October 5th Luther students and faculty came to Valders room 206 to participate in an Escalation workshop to promote domestic violence awareness. Much in accordance with October, which is domestic violence awareness month, Luther College’s Counseling Services along with Student Life helped hosted the Escalation Workshop from the One Love Foundation. The Escalation workshop was a workshop for students in particular to gain tools in understanding differences between healthy and unhealthy relationships, to recognize warning signs of relationship violence and learn ways to safely intervene to help others in unhealthy relationships.
Ever since then, I started to surround myself with loving people, and consequently, my life became much brighter. I was anxiety free, I felt a lot more happy, and I felt like my faith grew stronger than ever. Relationships with people who are connected to the body of Christ encourage me to seek His light. I am convicted that APU has a strong Christian community filled with great people that I know would make me a better servant of
Christianity is based upon the teachings of Jesus. Jesus spread the beliefs of peace and love for God. He was loved by many (especially the poor, women, and slaves) and when he would great people they would call him the messiah. Christianity spread slowly due to certain groups of people who disagreed with their beliefs/religion. Even though many Christians were treated poorly and sacrificed their life for this religion.
Traditionally when Americans think of religion they think of Christianity. Christianity has been around in the United States since its conception. For that reason, Christianity is anything but a mystery to a majority of Americans. The Religion of Hinduism has not had such an easy journey to being understood in America. I took the time to interview two people who live in my house.
With many prayers and asking God for his favor, grace, along with the focus and tenacity to understand all that was ahead of me. However, after researching several universities, I felt strongly God was leading me to enroll at CCU. This verse comes to mind in writing this paper, “Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say” (Exodus 4:12 NIV).
This job really taught me about the importance of children having a routine to follow as well as the impact teachers can have on a child’s life. After my first year in college, I realized that I wanted to gain more experience with children of all ages. Shortly after,
Academia and spirituality are divinely intertwined since the first days of their conceptions. From the Royal Library of Alexandria in thirty B.C. Egypt dedicated to the Muses the nine goddesses of the arts, to the ivy league Harvard College (now Harvard University) named after the New England Puritan clergyman John Harvard. Religion and academics are inseparable throughout the course of human history. If Religion can be found in literature, mathematics, astronomy, and many other facets of history, it serves as a fundamental part of many individuals lives, because of religion it is imperative to study and integrate of religion within the University classroom. The most elementary forms of written communication were created to record stories and
One of the unique aspects of the Department of Child Development and Family Relations is that many of the department’s large core courses offer teaching assistant opportunities to undergraduate students. Teaching assistant opportunities are valuable for undergraduate students to decide whether to apply as a graduate teaching position, great addition to a resume, and for a letter of recommendation. From my teaching assistant experience, I was able to fully grasp the concepts of middle childhood development, form a new appreciation for professors and teaching assistants, and reflect on myself as a student. In addition, I had the opportunity to strengthen several essential skills such as organizational skills, leadership skills, and communication
I was given the choice of one of two paths, one that was amusing and the other serious. I took the amusing, after all I had recently overcame at the time the absence of my stepdad however, I was soon caught up by a wakeup call. The wakeup call was what I had in store for my future and how I was managing my education and how I lost a grip of my vow. As a light of hope, I came to reconsider my choosing of one of two paths once again and I chose Early College Academy and now I am on the path to
Christianity is a worldwide religious tradition, a river of faith with many branches and with streams flowing on every continent. But its common source is one: the life, the teachings, the death, and the resurrection of Jesus. This man, whom Christians call the Christ, the Messiah, the expected one, was born in Roman-occupied Palestine about 2,000 years ago. He lived his life as a Jew in a region ruled by the Roman authorities. Like many prophets before him, he spoke of the urgent need to turn to God and he taught a message of love and justice.
