Assessment must promote learning rather than solely measuring it. The teacher as well as the students should constantly be learning and developing. In this case the teacher will not regress, and can be more productive and helpful for his or her students. Teacher should acquire knowledge and skills which will enable students to succeed in a well-rounded education and to meet the challenging State academic standards. Teacher should learn and develop in an area which he or she is aligned with, and directly related to, consistent with the academic goals of the school or local educational agency.
Introduction In early childhood education, it is important for teachers to always consider and understand children and the families’ needs. Early childhood teachers cannot only work with their colleagues to face children and the families’ needs but also need to work with multi-disciplinary to collaborate the ideas with each other and discuss the best outcome for the children and the families in early childhood education setting together. So, the more explanation about the multi-disciplinary team is that teachers with different professionals such as psychologists, child social worker, police, adult social worker, health visitor or court working together to provide different services and support for children and the families’ needs. They are diverse professional groups who work together in order to collaborate, reflect, access and support children’s development, health and learning and also families' needs. Early childhood professionals are from diverse professional backgrounds.
As a teacher, it is my responsibility to share information on the development of the child and have a clear and constant flow of dialogue with the family. This will enable both parties to deal with any issues that may arise within the family, school or community. It also my belief that parents should have an active part in their child’s learning and be able to lend a hand whenever necessary, and having open communication with them will allow this transparency and connection between home and school. The community is vital in ensuring that the facilities around the community and school is appropriate for the different children and families to live in and grow. A very good example of this successful collaboration is the Reggio Emilia approach in Italy.
In today’s society, education is something that could definitely be improved for children. Teachers could improve the kind of guidance and structure that they provide for their children. Maria Montessori ,writer of Montessori’s Own Handbook, and Colin Powell , writer of Kids Need Structure, have devoted their lives trying to help reform education to be more beneficial for children. While Montessori and Powell both have an amazing passion for their purpose, they both have differing opinions of how this should happen. To begin, It is clear to readers that both Montessori and Powell have contradicting ideas about the role of the teacher in a child’s development.
