Every day, Dalits are raped, murdered, and beaten because of their caste. According to the Indian caste system, Dalits are at the bottom of the ‘pyramid’; some people don’t even consider Dalits a part of the caste system. With around 16.6% of India’s whole population consisting of dalits, this is a major problem. Higher castes, such as Brahmins and Kshatriyas discriminate and take advantage of Dalits because they are considered impure and untouchable being the lowest caste. While Dalits are treated very poorly, the higher castes get respect. This is because of caste-based discrimination: when you treat one unfairly and differently than the others based on their caste. This problem can be solved in a political, economic, or social way. In my …show more content…
I think the best way to spread awareness would be through a hashtag on social media because nowadays many people are on social media. There is a website called Statista which talks about the statistics of social media. They say that the number of worldwide users is expected to reach about 2.5 billion by 2018, around a third of Earth’s entire population. This clearly shows that many people are using social media now and also that the world is developing very fast. Therefore, having so many people active on the ‘digital world’, we will be able to spread awareness about this issue fast and it will be able to spread to a larger, global …show more content…
Another idea, would be to include some entries about the fact of Dalits being untouchables because that is the huge problem amongst this vast topic of caste-based discrimination. For example, in the newspapers they had a few articles about the presidential elections in the United States of America. Many people in America get delivered newspapers to their doorstep every day. They read the newspaper to find out the latest news about what is going on in their country. From my knowledge, I know that many people read the newspaper whether it is online news or
It is important to raise awareness for the people in other countries so they an opportunity to
Through these images, people will want to help make a change and join the revolution. We will be focusing on the most popular uses of social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. We will be spreading awareness of our new-city revolution by creating a hashtag; #NewDetroit. Anytime someone posts this hashtag it will all be stored into one direct database and can be seen by whoever else clicks or writes this hashtag. Another very important site for our new-city revolution is Kickstarter.
Many activists nowadays use social media to spread their message and get people to join their cause, but will it actually go anywhere? Malcolm Gladwell answers this question in his article “Small Change: Why the Revolution Will Not be Tweeted,” where he discusses the impact of social media on the ability of a revolution to actually make any change in society. Gladwell’s view is that social media, while useful in many ways, will never be able to effectively start and maintain a revolution. He presents a convincing, well written argument that plays on the logic and emotions of the readers, effectively pulling them in and persuading them to agree with his points.
Social media in modern society has proven to be the most dangerous tool when spreading
The caste system holds the view that a person's caste influences their decision-making regarding marriage, employment, education, etc. Despite the fact that it is still in use today, the caste system underwent some major changes over time in India. In today’s time, according to Pew Research center they stated how in India, caste segregation is still widely practiced. For instance, a huge percentage of Brahmins said they would not accept a member of a scheduled caste as a neighbor. However, the majority of Indians believe that caste discrimination is not a major issue in the nation, and two-thirds of those who identify with scheduled castes or tribes also believe that their specific groups don't face a lot of prejudice.
Everyday someone is called out or hated against or put down because of their skin color. Caste also happens everyday, in the same way that racism does. When school boards oppose Critical Race Theory, it feels like they are not teaching a piece of American history. If kids learned that “... race is not a natural, biologically grounded feature of physically distinct subgroups of human beings but a socially constructed (culturally invented) category… ” They might be able to move past some of the racism we see in school systems today.
Social media outlets like Twitter and Facebook act as a vehicle for mobilization and change. Activists can garner support from a myriad of sources, many of which can participate nearly anywhere with access to social media. Through hashtags on Twitter, people expressed their opinions regarding Ferguson and brought international spotlight on the case. Furthermore, the use of Twitter during the Boston Bombing itself revolutionized the way news is gathered and processed, as thousands of users on Twitter tweeted about the events in real time. Thus, social media increases political participation and fosters a more interconnected and involved civil society
Raising awareness is an important thing to do; it helps people with no previous understanding of important issues to suddenly become aware of them, allowing for more educated decision making.
Sadly there will always be a caste system and good people might be caught in the bias opinion of the group of people they are in. People will always have a bias opinion of other people because a caste system can manifest corruption in the justice
The drastic increase in social media has also had a tremendous impact on the media’s impact, as it makes this technology more and more
There are many different societies in our world today, and each of these communities treat and group their people differently. While some places, like the United States, do not have set groups, others, like India, have very strict laws about what each class can and cannot do. The Caste system in India is a great example of how one society strictly groups their members. The Caste system is a class structure that is determined at birth.
Eventually kid ’s think what everyone else is doing on social is cool and follow in society footsteps. Because of social media we have a generation full of misguided individuals. I would like to take a stand on this matter and protest about certain things being banned off social media just as John Lewis took a stand in the civil rights movement. Racist was a problem in the civil rights movement era, hence, the reason why they protested.

Among the 38 prime minister in Nepal, there is a total dominance of either Bahuns or Chhetris. There has never been a prime minister of lower caste. Although there is quota system for the indigenous communities, they are still discriminated. Dalits in Nepal confront an effective mix of social separation and viciousness that authorizes their below average status. Government inaction helps save this inferior citizenship: the Nepalese government regularly neglects to indict the individuals who participate in victimization Dalits and presently can't seem to make a far reaching get ready for guaranteeing the privileges of Dalits.
Introduction In India, discriminatory attitude towards men and women have existed for generations and thus it affect the lives of both genders. Although the constitution of India has granted men and women equal rights, but gender gap still remains. Female discrimination violates human rights. These are mostly seen in family land sharing among sisters and brothers.
