Discourse on the method, by Desecrate is a famous philosophical book, which focuses on doubting, certainty and existence. In his book, Desecrate constantly shifts from doubting to certainty. Although Descartes believes that everything can be doubted he finds ways to became certain of his existence mainly through quote “Cogito, ergo sum”, which means, “I think, therefore I exist”. Despite this phrase is one of the best in the world, and many people rushed to Descartes says, I see that it doesn’t have much significance as people think, he did not come up with any thing new.
We have different kind of people, which are divided into religious, atheists and lost people. So Desecrate was from the third type because from reading his book we will

As we said because he is lost he has many ways to try to find his ways so he start doubting his sense, dreams and mind to reach to the truth then he start thinking to reach existence.
The phrase “ I think therefore I exist “ is a phrase used by multiple philosopher. Which mean or leads us that we can doubt in everything except ourselves, except the “I”. He linked the two words with “therefore” because on word depends on the other; it is link building if we have done the first think you may go to the next. It relationship is like cause then we have an effect, or action give us a result.
Returning to Descartes we will find he uses I pronoun, which mean individuality, he didn’t us you think or we think he said “I”. When I say, “ I think “ the (I) directly proved the existence of my self so I provided the cogito without completing the rest of the sentence. So I believed in the existence of I. And I believed it would full convince in my existence, so we don’t need to have a proof for it. At the same time to do any action we must think about it in the mind so this thinking will give you prove of your existence in
Another refuting claim would be of a ancient thinker known as Rene Descartes who stated “Dubito ergo cogito, cogito ergo sum” translated as “I doubt therefore I think, I think therefore I am”. A great scenario where this argument would be considered false would be in a imaginary character such as Sherlock Holmes as he is a fictional character who thinks and doubts but he does not exist. In the same way we could think that we exist because we have thoughts but we could be just a computer program playing out its
Even thought, he said God’s existence can’t be proven, yet he still said “God’s existence I mean that I propose to prove that the unknown, which exist is God” (page 421). He is believing in the existence of God, but just like he can’t prove it he decided to name it the unknown, but my question to him would be “why to make him unknown and not real?”. Finally,
Descartes, in his Meditations on First Philosophy, used a method of doubt; he doubted everything in order to find something conclusive, which he thought, would be certain knowledge. He found that he could doubt everything, expect that he was thinking, as doubting is a type of thinking. Since thinking requires a thinker, he knew he must exist. According to Descartes if you are able to doubt your existence, then it must mean that you exist, hence his famous statement cogito ergo sum which is translated into ‘I think, therefore I am.’ Descartes said he was able to doubt the existence of his body and all physical things, but he could not doubt that his mind exists.
Through his creations of human life and the universe and throughout history God has proved his own existence. God has also revealed to man his only son. John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). God sent his only son to do his will. Jesus did so and came forth with more sons of God.
If man knows his own being, then man knows that bare nothing cannot produce a being 3) Therefore, man knows that bare nothing cannot produce a being (from 1 and 2) 4) If bare nothing cannot produce a being, then there has been an eternal being 5) Therefore, there is an eternal (infinite) being
Therefore Descartes states that “I am, I exist”, is true if he can clearly say it himself in the first person. This shows that for a body to think they must exist; otherwise there will be no thinking to
If god doesn’t cause my existence, then I am caused by myself, my parents or a lesser cause. There is no infinite regression, so I my existence isn’t caused by my parents or lesser cause, Therefore, God is the cause of my existence (AD 51). As well I am not God, If I created
Descartes Epistemology: Descartes attempts to discover a foundation of knowledge as seen in his book ‘Meditations on First Philosophy’. He is essentially looking for total certainty. In order to do so, Descartes doubted everything, coming to the realization that he can only prove his
The debate over the existence of God has been a focal point of society for thousands of years. There are two points of emphasis that Anselm believes prove the existence of God or “something-than-which-nothing-greater-can-be-thought.” Firstly, he believes that since one can understand the phrase “something-than-which-nothing-greater-can-be-thought,” it exists in the mind. He continues by asserting that it is greater to exist in both reality and the mind than it is to exist in the mind alone. He thus deduces that “something-than-which-nothing-greater-can-be-thought” must exist in both the mind and in reality.
sense for him to be the reason we are born to then die leaving a question mark to our existence and the world. God exists because there can be none greater that can be thought. The ontological argument begins with the claim that God, by definition, is infinitely great. Thus, no entity can surpass God’s greatness. One of the many famous arguments proving God’s existence by a seventeenth-century famed philosopher Anselm.
In order for his opinions and knowledge not to interfere with his perception, he chose to doubt everything. And so, he even chose to doubt the existence of the physical body and continued to stay
Through our understanding we can come to learn that the existence of conscious self is not enough to support the claim of a thinking thing, and that he solely exists on the basis of thinking and being a thing being. And so the mediators claim that “ I exist as a thinking thing,” is correct as it can be supported with evidence throughout our
2. God exists in every person’s life and heart and those that chose to believe experience his presence. “Man was created to see God.
That is right but here we are only imagining two situation one is just idea of God and another is idea plus reality. But how can we assume that God exists in reality even we don’t know about God’s existence. It seems just a logic which is self-contradictory. We can also apply this logic to other things, maybe this logic will not work. Let’s imagine that electricity is not available in a room, so fan, which is hanging there, is not working.
Therefore “self” has no definite reference we are not able to exist. Also one perceptions are not present when one is sleep, or after death. In order to exist the perception of something must be ongoing and infinite. Due to the fact when you die you are unable to have any type of perceptions you can’t exist. This is stated in the third
