According to Laughey (2007:1), media are easy to list (television, film, radio and newspapers) but harder to define. Nevertheless, he suggests that media are means of spreading news or knowledge amongst a wider audience throughout a region, country or even the globe. Boyd (2010:18) states that media is a broad term which covers several platforms that facilitate getting intended information by the public or its sectors. In addition, there is no limit of themes that media deal with and there is no limit as to the number of channels they use (Boyd, 2010:18) As far as the given definitions are concerned, Laughey (2007:1) puts the emphasis on the fact that the term mass media would more precise as the aforementioned are media in which there is no interaction occurring between the party presenting the information and the one receiving it. Moreover, Laughey (2007:1) provides an explanation of the mass modifier in this particular case- it implies that the media are accessible to a vast number of people. Oxford dictionary (not sure how to make the inscription) however, does not make the distinction based on the presence or absence of interaction between the medium and the receiver.
